So did the mod 5 just use a standard 700 trigger?

I'm still trying to decide which action I wanna go with. I have the MARS rail already so I'm leaning towards a remy action. I know LRI can modify the rail to work with the stiller action but were there ever any issued like that?

I stumbled across blue prints for the mk13
Mod 5 barrel taper to accommodate the mk11 suppressor. Failed to save the file. Can anyone point me in the direction of the image/pdf?

Thanks

Hey guys hail from Canada, long time reader, first time poster here. I had to get rid of my Mk13 Mod 2 build a couple years ago. The itch for a 300 win came back this winter and I slowly started gathering up the parts for a Mod 0 build. Most of the parts aren't all that hard to find even up here in the people's glorious and free democratic Republic of Kanadistan expect for the recoil lug. With all the ITAR B.S. we have to put up with making one is pretty much the only option. Was wondering if someone out there would be kind enough to give a guy some dimensions. With the way things are going up here, pretty soon bolt guns are the only thing we'll be allowed to keep.

Maybe, but no.

As I understand it, there were several versions of the NXS used, but a large number of them had MOA adjustments and Mildot reticles.

The hunt for a donor action begins!

Mk13 Mod 5 chassis came in from Thoroughbred Armament today. Chassis looks great but kinda bummed that the foam in the case I got didn't have any cutouts.

What is the correct finish for the receiver on the mod 5?

Edit: Just realized the case is a pelican 1750 and not an im3300 like it was supposed to be. Probably explains why the foam is the standard foam with no cutouts

[#30]
In regards to the influx of new members creating Mk13 Mod 5’s, that (TB) Thoroughbred has released, i’d like to spread some observations I’ve made that may affect your build/route decisions.

You may have noticed in your research, I could not find it directly over the couple years of research so I’m addressing it here, there are TWO case variants.

This is my research and I may be wrong. The early version cases, were originally cut for the MARS rail and folding stock, but then when the IMUNS upgrade initiative rolled out, old cases were adapted to fit... and I had one of the ‘transitional cases’, which was a deployment mk13 case marked with prefix serial #MKAxxxxx (instead of #G6xxxxx) but it had the folding stock cutout inside, but the foam looked hand cut around where the IMUNS sits.

The later version cases, do not allow the chassis to fold and the suppressor must be taken off to fit (IMO defeats the purpose of a folding stock for storage). You can tell the difference, at a glance, by looking at the logo on the front. Since Pelican bought out/absorbed Hardigg Cases, the front logo on the later version cases are marked with “Pelican’s 1750- Yellow Logo”, rather than the older “Hardigg Storm im3300 Logo”. They’re the same case, different logo. Pelican probably picked up another run of contracts for these later cases where the internal foam ultimately changed due to requirement changes. A good number of these later cases were never fielded as we’re seeing surplus of those cases come back in pristine condition and were probably just stored somewhere.

User Errol120 told me “My case was brand new. Still had the manual in it. And aside from no stock spacers and the grease mine was in 9/10 condition. Really impressed with it”. This correlates with a friends and a few other users story/posts on Instagram. These seem to all be from the TB’s second batch, where the pelican cases are new.

Reached post limit, see next down below...
Link Posted: 7/22/2020 2:19:28 AM EDT
[#31]
Anyways it kinda sucks that TB is using an all encompassing catch all disclaimer for the new guys who may want to build the early generation with the MARS system, that came with the kit but technically could get the wrong case for it... but I guess if a lot of them (2nd batch) comes with IMUNS they can go that route too.

From their postings, it seems that the first batch sold were the tits, where all of the cases were early gen. and we’re salty. Maybe they used the first release as hype and is running off that hype to sell off the new surplus cases. No dirt throwing, it’s awesome that they’re releasing these, just an observation that might help users decide which route/generation of the mod 5 they decide to go.

It seems TB is continually trickling more kits onto their website to keep shown quantity single digits. (8 in stock now, and have seen it fluctuate down, up, down, up from 5 - 11), so if you haven’t already, you should scoop those up before they’re gone gone!

Side notes:
The later gen case, has a generic large foam cut out for the suppressor, (maybe they were mid procurement process of the 7.62 surefire suppressor that ended up on the mod 7), and wanted the case to be modular for newer cans rather than the dedicated snug fit foam cut out of the mk11 suppressor in the earlier gen folding stock cases.

Hey guys,

anyone sent their MK13 Mod 5 over to Red Bull Armory? I've been waiting on my Mk11 can to send off to another smith, but I just came across some information from another member on one of the forums that Red Bull is able to make the barrel modifications using a CNC machine program from Crane. This is supposed to not require the can for fitment. I was just curious if anyone had used them for this build yet? It'd be nice to have my rifle complete without waiting on this form 4. I want to do my due diligence before shipping off this crazy expensive build kit.

Blueprints don't mean shit when the suppressors themselves can have slightly different tolerances.

I know RW Snyder Gunsmithing builds Mod 5's. He has mentioned that the suppressor isn't needed for him either. He has two that he uses to check fitment.

Hey All, I'm new to the forum, and am working on a MK13 Mod0 build for a customer. Receiver is in the process of being blueprinted, and the Lilja barrel is on it way to me.  I have takeoff stock #5098 but am missing the MIRS rail. I have a few questions maybe somebody can help me with.  What does the caliber designation look like on the barrel? stamped or engraved? and does anybody know of a MIRS rail for sale? Rev A or B.
Thanks,
RV

Be prepared to pay a pretty penny for them as they are hard to find. Check the equipment exchange here or over at the Snipers Hide would be a good starting point.

I bought one of these the other day to complete my kit it should be here Tuesday. The seller is great to work with and will send pics of the specific case you are going to receive before you purchase. I purchased an issuer Mk11 pelican 1700 from them a few months ago and it looks great.

Edit: Also of note. The ad shows the most expensive shipping option but you can choose a cheaper option during checkout

Whats a stamped G6 long action worth in these tryin times? I have one unfired one. I'd like to see it become a mod5 but don't ever see myself doing it. Don't want to look like a dick asking too much for it either.

Standard bolt face, but i think most places can open it to magnum for no extra charge when doing the m16 extractor mod. It also has that disgusting J lock, so it'd need a new firing pin assembly.

I personally bought a G6 off of a donor rifle for my mod 5 maybe 4 months ago. The cost was $550. I’d be curious to see what a new G6 would go. I would imagine around 400-600 depending on the motivation behind it. There’s a slew of new mod 5 builders after the thoroughbred armament haul , so there’s certainly a market whether that market is better reached here or over on the hide I’m not sure.
