Hey guys it’s been a while. I need a huge favor. Anyone with a spec MK13 Mod 5 with the KAC Suppressor could you please measure the barrel from the recoil lug to the back of the Suppressor. Basically how much of the barrel is exposed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How does she group? And if you have calipers, can you measure the diameter of the barrel at the front of the MIRS rail for me?

Not sure, but you need either a G prefix 700 with magnum bolt face or a Stiller Mk13 action depending on what version you're building.

I heard that the first batch of MK13 MOD7s are being built at Crane for the Marines this summer.

My Schmidt and Bender came in today for my M40A5.  I spoke to my smith and all he has to do is black oxide it and it will be done. Here is the box and the scope. I can't wait to get this one done.

And the scope...

This is the correct mil-spec scope for the Marine Corps...except it doesn't say 8541 and Premier on the objective housing.  I ordered it in January. My Badger rings will be here Wednesday and then the rifle to arrive and I will have a shooter.  The scope weighs like two pounds...It's built like a tank.

The only issuance of it I'm aware of was to USMC Det1 on a very, very limited scale. Like maybe 5 at the absolute maximum. MARSOC may have inherited those guns but I doubt anyone bought any more.
This is from a book (there's a link to a PDF of it in the archived "spec ops pic thread") published by the usmc as an official history of det1

Mk13 Mod 2.  Pretty much the same as a Mod 5, but with green skins on the chassis and a thread protector and Smith Vortex instead of the contour for the Mk11 can.  Used by the Army.

Too bad a Mk13 Mod 7 isn't the right home for a brake.

With the can on, no one will know though.  Should be a nice rifle.  What scope are you going with?

Not enough info really.
That said, I did put badger USMC M40 rings on my mk13.
MARS base with S&B 5-25x56. Scope and rings are 35mm.
The gap between the barrel and objective was about as thick as butler creek scope covers (the part that slips over the scope)

Just curious if people are running 1.0, 1.125, or 1.265" rings to clear the MARS with a 50mm scope.

I'm working on my Mk21 (Remington MSR) and I'm trying to figure out what mount/rings and scope the Army is using.  I found a few pics that show issued rifles S&B, NightForce and Leupold scopes with Larue and Badger (?) mounts/rings.  What is being used and do you have any pics?  Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately I just got home this weekend or I would have walk over to the team rooms and checked.  I don't have any close ups either as I normally do not work on the M2010.

Welcome home! Time for you to enjoy a cold beer!

The variant I'm looking for info on isn't the M2010 (M2010 is a Remington 700 long action receiver), it's actually the MSR from the Army's PSR contract (titanium receiver, not a model 700). This is about all I could find online:

So without going through 39 pages...
The first pages brings up a question as the first few guns say long action 308?
How does one have a long action and a .308 in the same gun?
308 is short action
300WM is long...?

Easy. You just cut your chamber to 308 specs.

IIRC they wanted the ability to upgrade to 300WM should they ever need.

For starters, I'm not even sure you can purchase the MSR action and barrel nut. Piecing that one together doesn't seem likely and you're probably better off purchasing a demo unit. Even then, I'd favor the AI PSR if you're dropping that kind of cash on a modular style platform.

Since this is the Mil-Sniper rifle thread...I found out that I can get the Surefire muzzle brakes, that are used to mount the FA762SS suppressor, through work.  These are the Surefire MB762SSAL/RE like on the Marine Corps M40A5/6. If you have any questions about these muzzle brakes let me know.

Surgeon Rifles did a version of the CSR thats called the SRL.  Around 100 of them were shipped to the government (can't remember if they went to SEALs or the Army) and were barreled by Bartlein.  I thought the SRL was discontinued, but it's still on their site:

Earlier this year I purchased a prototype MSR action, prototype chassis and CG MSR trigger.  The receiver came with the bolt, barrel nut and barrel extension.  I talked to Bartlein back in February and they said they could make me a barrel to the contract specs (since they supplied the first batch).  Once it's complete, I'll have built this gun for less than half the price of a demo rifle!

Since I'm only missing the barrel, it's now time for me to track down a correct scope.  I have a S&B PSR scope on it right now, but I'm going to be moving that over to a Mk13 Mod 7.
