Any chance of getting a hold of a mk13 mod0/1 Lilja barrel ready to go? Lilja has a bit of a lead time since they only stock the mod7 barrels. Figured I'd ask before pulling the trigger.

How I just proposed to my fiance at the range I work at on weekends as the range officer. Distance was at 100 yards using my M24 sniper rifle clone firing 175gr SMK handloads. Not a bad shot for not shooting for like 6 months, and under the pressure of being proposed to lol.

Wow Davey.  Congrats.  I showed my wife and she was like, "What if she wasn't a great shot?".  LOL  Sure looks like your fiance knows how to put the bullet where it needs to be!!!!!

Your post brightened my night.  Thank you.

Thanks guys! I appreciate it. Yea, she's definitely awesome, she's not into shooting as much as I am...but that's a good thing because I know girls like that and it costs their BF twice as much in ammo and other expenses that comes along with playing with our toys. Plus she doesn't bother me about all the parts I buy and shit. We just bought a house and I'm building her a walk-in closet, and I get to build myself a reloading/gun room. And I found a barrel for the mk13 and Mr Ross is building it for me. Figured he knows what he's doing.

Come on guys! This get this thread moving again! I'm spending a LOT of money building this MK13 mod0/1 (I dont know what the difference is) and need people to talk about it with. For the $$$$ I'm spending....I could've had a sick custom rifle built the way I wanted. But ya know....clonelife and shit. Mr Dan Ross is putting it together for me. I originally had my heart set on a mod5, but my buddy Geoffrey got a hold of one of those official seal stocks, so he hooked me up with the stock, MIRS rail, bottom metal, recoil lug, spring and follower from the mk13 he was working on. Lilja mod 0/1 barrels had like a few month wait, and Dan happened to have a barrel for me ready to go. Sent him everything from Geoffrey, got an awesome mid-70's trued R700 LA with the screw holes in the back that looks like would be been for the M24 rear sight from this dude John Bredderman whom I went to for the blueprinted R700 LA for my M24 build, and went directly to Nightforce for the 5.5-22x56, ultralite rings and top half level, through their Mil/LE discount program and is currently being built. They are built to order, so hopefully it will be sooner than later...they said they've been getting orders out ahead of schedule.
So if you guys have early mk13's and don't use photofuckit....please post them up! I can't see like 80% of photos in threads nowadays.

usnguns,

Glad you like the Mk13 Mod 0 stocks, let me know if you need a 3rd one! ;)

I received these 2 rails with the DRMO'd lot of Mk13 stocks, so I imagine that they were used on the early guns. Was originally thinking that it might be the PRI rail in your pics, but that one doesn't look like an extended rail.  These "pre-Mk13's" or team modified guns could use a variety of parts.

Unmarked on top, PRI on bottom:

Agreed, let’s get this thread active again.   Thanks to USMCSGT0331 a number of us are building MK13 Mod 0 rifles using NSW take off stocks.  USMCSGT0331 and I have done considerable MK13 research over the last year.  Mod 0 compiled parts list below for those interested.  Crane modified the rifles throughout the early 2000s, so deviations from spec are fairly common.  If anyone has additional insight, please post.

MK13 Mod 0 Parts List
Receiver :  Remington 700 Long Action RH, vast majority were C prefix serial numbers, a few E prefixes as well, optic mount holes tapped for #8-40 threads
Bolt  :  Rem 700 LA bolt, early rifles had no extractor mod, mid/later Mod 0’s had a Tubb EXTA 0.232” Sako extractor installed
Barrel :  Lilja MK13 Mod 0 “Tactical Taper” contour, 416R stainless steel, .30 caliber, 1:10” RH twist, 4 Groove, finished at 26.5”
Chamber : Match 300WM reamer designed for A191/MK248 Mod 0 cartridge using 190gr SMKs, counter bored if using the Sako extractor
Recoil Lug :  Crane developed custom MK13 Mod 0 "L" shaped recoil lug threaded for a third action screw
Receiver/Recoil Lug Finish : Gray parkerized
Barrel Finish : Bead blasted SS, some were tan powder coated, bead blast more effective with spray paint adherence, most were rattle can painted in the field
Barrel markings : No chamber or proof marks on most Mod 0 barrels, very late builds might have been rotary engraved with “300 WM” on the left and “P” on the right similar to Mod 5s
Optic Rail :  McCann MIRS Rem700 Long Action RH rail, 0 MOA cant, part # MCCIND-1010-101.  First generation most common, “Rev B” also used(milled window left side to view receiver serial number)
Trigger :  Remington 700 Factory trigger, older style Walker trigger tuned to 3.5 lbs
Stock :  McMillan A2 with molded in color Medium Gray(early) or Medium Tan(mid/later), saddle check piece with single adjustment screw, T-Slot with movable sling swivel stud on forend, butt pad spacer system
Bottom Metal : Rem 700 LA BDL with hinged floor plate and internal magazine box/follower/spring
Scopes : Most NSW Mod 0’s seem to have been issued with “NAV-SPEC” or “MIL-SPEC” Nightforce 5.5x22x56mm NXS scopes using 0.25 MOA-MOA adjustments, second focal plane illuminated MIL-DOT Reticle, Low Speed Turrets with 10 MOA per revolution, sun-shade, and a Flat Top/Non-ZeroStop elevation turret.  A ZeroStop version with a beveled elevation turret was introduced post 2005ish and used on later Mod 0s and rebuilds.
Rings : Nightforce 30mm High 1.125” X-Treme Duty Steel Rings, part # A104
Suppressor :  Knights Armament SR-25 MK11 suppressor part # 98440.  Fitted to a special Crane machined barrel collar with notches for the KAC MK11 gate latch.  A small number of suppressed Mod 0 rifles were built prior to transitioning to the Mod 5.
Bi-pod : Harris 9-13”, non-swivel, notched legs, part # HBLM
Sling : Turner Saddlery National Match Leather Sling

Field pictures of the suppressed MK13 Mod 0 variant are extremely rare.  Everyone’s seen the black & white Chris Kyle pictures, few additional color pics below. If anyone has field pictures other than the Kyle pics, please post.

Mir Bahmanyar and Chris Osman’s book “SEALs  The US Navy’s Elite Fighting Force” has a number of pictures of MK13 Mod 0s and MK11/MK12s.  A handful below, many more in the book.

Nice! Thank you for sharing! I changed my order with Nightforce from a 5.5-22x56 to the 8-32x56 after reading that Kyle had that on his, and a few other sources including the guy that deals with the Mil orders confirmed that it was used...if for only a short time. I Would be kicking myself in the ass over that extra 10x while shooting out to a mile so I called them last night. Actually worked out better because I still had a few more weeks on the other scope, and the 32x shipped out today. Also, Nightforce's Intermediate rings were made specifically for the mk13...so the 56mm would work perfectly with the MIRS rail. FYI.

Please keep them coming! I can only look at the same pictures so many times.
Link Posted: 10/6/2017 5:04:36 PM EDT
[#21]
So I kinda screwed myself guys. The 8-32x56 only has 65moa of total elevation adjustment. I'm gonna need a 20moa MIRS instead of my 0moa. If somebody would be interested in an even trade, or would be willing to sell...please let me know. I changed my order to the higher magnification to be able to see better when the time comes to attempt the mile shot, not realizing the short comings of increased magnification. And all purchases are final sale when going through their Active Military program.

One simply does not get a 0 MOA base on an ELR gun
20 MOA minimum. 30-45 preferred

Specs? Is that a 3.5-10 M3? I started with a blueprinted/trued R700 LA and went from there. 24" Rock Creek 5R 1/11.25 recessed crown. Borrowed the spare spring and follower from my M24 at work out of the little Pelican case. Wish I had the R700 LA that I'm using on my early MK13 build back when I started my M24. Its from the mid-70's and has the holes for the rear sight base already drilled with little screws in them.

Yup, M3LR. That’s about the only non-M24 item on it. Everything else is to spec. 700 LA receiver marked M24 US Property. Mike Rock 5R rifled M24 profile bbl. Redfield Big Globe/Palma international sights, HS stock, Turner sling, Harris pod. Lupi Mk4 rings and base.

Huh, I didn't know they actually used the scope. I had heard that they did, but never had that verified.
Mike Lay built the complete rifle. He roll marked it. I'll try to dig up all my detail pics of the sight bases, iron sights, and everything else including the markings. I won't be back around that rifle until maybe next weekend but I know I have the pics somewhere.

Ok, found the pics.

Here's the crown of the M24 and my SPS T. Also shows the front sight base.

Rear sight base and receiver markings. I don't have the plugs in the holes, which I need to fix. Ring nuts are on the other side so that wrenching them doesn't mess up the rear sight base. Markings show "Model 700 M24"

Top view of the front sight base.

Front and rear sight bodies.

Sight inserts.

Metal sight inserts.

Lupi Mk4 base.

Better pic of the receiver markings.

You've had that 24 for quite some time M24shooter. I came across your pics in another thread, from like 7 years ago. I get bored so I always have to be in the middle of a clone build. My screen name would've changed several times from M24shooter to MK12shooter to SEALRECCEshooter, to MK13shooter ect lol. So after all these years you still love your 24 as much?
Here's my Irons. They were made by 2 different companies depending on the year

Yes, I've had that for about 15 or 16 years. I haven't gotten to shoot it as much as I would like, but I always come back to it and it is the one that I've most consistently liked. I had those pics on Photosuckit, so I wasn't sure if they were still able to show up.
I'd love to do an XM3 clone, and I may start putting one together.
