Here’s one I just picked up; 1921 Winchester 52, reworked and rebarreled many years ago. 27” barrel, weighs about 12lbs. Old Bushnell Elite 5-15x40 gets the job done for now.

My Remington Model 37, was made in 1937 (S/N is a very low XXX). It has the original barrel which is still in fine shape.
I have the original iron sights, the single loading block and the 5 shot magazine. The scope is an era-appropriate Lyman SuperTargetSpot in 12X. It is a very good scope. I may get some better photos,... some day.  If you want one and can find one, BUY IT! There are well made rifles that just happen to be in rimfire. There's no sheet metal, no aluminum, no plastic,... just steel, blued steel and walnut. For me, it fits very well and is a joy to shoot offhand using the iron sights. |

SWFA had a scope sale so I replaced the 20 year old .22 scope with its simple plex reticle on my most accurate .22
The rifle is a Ruger 77/22 varmint in the original laminate stock. I fabricated the comb riser from kydex. The vertical grip is a new experiment and it works pretty well. That rifle won a .22 NRL match for me a few years ago. I really want to put it in a chassis but it's hard finding anything to fit an old rifle that's been discontinued. Does anyone know of a chassis company that has an inlet for these?  50 yard target. Not great, not terrible.

Here's the grip piece I fabricated to create a more vertical position. The original stock is about 2" too short for me and the pistol grip has an uncomfortable angle. Also the comb is way too short for scope use.
I want to put this action into a nice chassis, with an eye toward shooting it in biathlon this year.   It's a rectangular piece of 1/16" kydex formed around a PVC to match the dimension of the palm swell. It connects to the stock with sticky backed velcro. That's the same method I used for the comb riser. The sharp corner needs radiused, then it will be pretty serviceable. Years ago I tinkered around with floating the barrel, then tried bedding it with regular external silicone caulk as an experiment. It worked so well I left it that way, and never bothered replacing the caulk with proper epoxy. Today I pulled the barrel and bedded it to the action with Loctite 603. I'll try shooting for groups, then bed the barrel if needed. The barrel-to-receiver fit was pretty loose. 603 is a bearing bedding compound intended to fill gaps. |

The ZC527 has more elevation travel, and I am currently trying to use my Vudoo as an all-purpose rimfire gun for NRL22 and for some hobbyist ELR shooting (600 yards), so with a 60MOA base I get about 31.7 MIL elevation adjustment with a 50 yard zero. Plus, I simply wanted to try the ZCO (and just received a second one, but with an MPCT3X reticle). The DLR should be a fine scope. Top parallax is great. I will say that I notice chromatic aberration on my K525i in certain lighting conditions. Played with my Vudoo 360 and an ATS tuner behind my Thunderbeast suppressor. I wanted to see if I could tighten up a random lot of ammo with this (Bartlien 16 twist) barrel.
Moving the tuner a total of about a turn did this. After I got to 2, I stopped. These are all 5 shot groups off a bipod and Traust rear bag at 50 yards.

Anschutz 54.18 MSR, custom laminate stock that’s been aluminum pillar bedded, trigger currently set as a two stage with a total weight of 12oz, BKL dovetail rings and a Vortex Golden Eagle 15-60x52 ECR-1 scope. Once it’s above zero degrees, I’ll take it out and get it sighted in. Hoping to shoot the tightest .22 groups I’ve ever shot, and if not; well I know it’s not the equipment!

Bring the basics to an Appleseed shoot. 10/22. Make sure your have checked your equipment. Comb height is critical so you don't experience parallax with your scope. 1.25" sling swivels with a garand sling!

This weekend I opened up the barrel channel to free float the Ruger in its new Boyds stock. It really liked that. It really likes the Federal target ammo the biathlon team uses, and it shoots really well with the federal bulk stuff.
Today I had a couple neat experiences. Shooting at the small steel range, which is built into a wooden enclosure, I could see the bullet just before it hit the target. Probably because it was lit from behind, and traveling into a dark area. Then, I tried some CCI quiet subsonics. I could actually see the bullets as they approached the target, and they were falling at a steep angle. At 50 yards they printed a vertical string maybe 6 inches below the POA. |

When I'm shooting off my porch on summer afternoons, the sun is at my back and my berm is in the woods. At certain times of the day, I can watch the bullets from a few feet in front of the muzzle all the way to impact. It's really cool to see the bullets flying, and how much they're effected by gravity and wind over distance. My berm is only 85 yards, but the arc and any wind is absolutely visible when conditions are right. |

It’s fast once you get used to the controls. To deploy the legs further you just have to pull on the legs, no release mechanism required. Kidd .22, I had forgotten how accurate and soft shooting the rifle is. Using Wolf Gold Match ammo this gun will just shoot the center out of the target without much effort. The scope is a SWFA fixed 10 which pair’s nicely with the gun as you can focus down to 10 meters.

Aluminum 3 Inch Fore Plate for Benchrest Stability
https://www.rimfirebenchrestforum.com/ in Bench Techniques and Equipment Purchased from Hart Custom Rifles, I've installed their Accuracy Asset I on my CZ 457 Provartmint in hopes of providing a more stable platform then the traditional bag rest on my Bald Eagle. The bag rest did not provided a secure and level/plumb stock resting position that I was seeking. The installation is easy using the provided screws; attaching to the stock using the sling swivel threads. Hart's Accuracy Asset I consists of an anodized aluminum three piece assembly and shipped with four attachment screws to assure one is the correct length for your rifle stock.  |

Last weekend I shot my 35 year old Ruger in a NRL22 match. Placed 6/8 in my division using bulk ammo. Sorry, no picks. I can probably gain a couple positions just by finding some match ammo my rifle likes. The vast majority of misses are my fault.

I must not have been zooming in far enough. All that was coming up was the east side and sw. I’m going to try to make Custer this weekend. I’m basically in between there and Renton. |
