If you need a rangefinder to hunt with a shotgun you probably shouldn't be hunting.

Well just got into hunting last year and not very good at guess distance at all

Hunting with a slug gun inside of 100 yards is pretty much a point and shoot evolution. By a rangefinder with angle range compensation for bow hunting. Bushnell or Nikon are both great.
