I got mine earlier this year, and of all the targets I've tried so far, it has been the absolute toughest. It may not be a "pretty" target, but it gets the job done better than any other. You can shoot broad heads and field points, and it's heavy enough that it's not going to move on you (a problem I've had on other targets). Keep in mind a 24x24 is weighing in at ~100lbs, so find a good place to put it and leave it there; it can handle the weather. The good folks at Blob Targets are having a holiday promotion which is a great deal. Between that and the quality of the target, I asked them to be the first industry forum here. We'll be inviting a few hand-chosen companies to take part and help us develop/test the site as we move it forward. |

Been using one for the past two summers. I have the 24"X24"X12", and it weighs 120 pounds. I don't want mine to get weathered, so I roll it out to its spot in the yard every time I shoot (if you can call a square target "rolling".
 ) Daily for three months this past summer, I shot nothing but broadheads into it –– well over 1000 shots. I haven't even begun to hurt it yet.

With their rotation upon impact, I'm curious how much extra damage they would do to it, or –– even worse –– if it would trap the broadhead and pull the broadhead/insert out of the shaft. |

if I want to leave it outdoors in new england, how will deal with the weather? I would keep a roof on it but it would be exposed... I don't want to roll it 40 yards down range each time I want to shoot it

I've got a couple thousand broadhead holes in mine now, and still going strong.
EDIT: Also over a thousand field point holes, from back when I used them. |

how hard is the target on the arrows. I am shooting a very light easton bloodline that has broken a few times hitting dirt on a short shot and a few times inside block targets.
will I be nuking them on the blob or is it comparable to other targets in arrow life. |

I've got four summers on mine now -- and all I shoot into it are fixed-blade broadheads. I do not practice with field points, so I'd venture to guess that there are at least 4000 broadhead impacts on that target so far.
One suggestion -- if you haven't started doing so yet, Adam, it would be great if you could place the cardboard box inside of some sort of wooden frame before pouring the foam, so that the sides of the target won't bow out.

This becomes a bigger problem as the target size (and the volume of material being used) increases. It seems to be less of an issue with the 16" and 20" BLOBS.

No worries. Yesterday we spent a couple of hours shooting 2 new BLOB targets with 8-10 shooters of all ages...you can hardly even tell they've been shot! These targets last like nothing else available. Try me...you'll be glad you did!
We even shot some with an Excalibur Phoenix crossbow and it handled those bolts without a hitch. |
