Finally got to have my dad, brother and I tag on opening morning. Admittedly I thought mine was a let it go and let it grow size but the desire to have this photo overcame my common sense.

After all isn’t it about the fellowship of the hunt?

Didn’t grow for shit. No rain and pigs dug up the chuffa bulbs as soon as they sprouted.

You can see a pig bowl in the foreground.

I put a friend on the stand two weeks later. He got this one. Posted earlier. Knocked for a loop I see. Forum put it upside down. Attachment Attached File

I have enjoyed reading this post mainly because this year I have not had the chance to hunt because I have been dealing with the estates of my two cousins who died last January.
They owned the ranch I worked and hunted on and their sister, who hated the ranch, wanted it sold now. Well papers are signed next week. My mother is executor so get to hunt until the end of the year but moving things has taken most of my time until this weekend.

I got through loading the truck early so I decided to walk the ranch with my ar in 7.62x39. Missed a doe but spotted a seven point running. Whistled him and he stopped. First buck with an ar.

Finally a good thing this year.

Sorry to hear about your cousins, glad things worked out for the property and that you were able to get some meat.

My wife's parents are working on their will(hate to hear it, they're feeling their mortality). Asked what all their kids want from the estate and it looks like my wife is the only one who wants the house. She asked if I'd want to live out there when the time comes. Apparently she likes silly questions. House, outside of town, with access to good deer land?

I'd rather have my in laws but it's prime land.

Took my 16 year old this afternoon.
She only has time to go maybe a couple times a year with me. We let a young 7 point walk. Several does came in later and she decided it was time. (She was wanting a big buck for her first). She was calm and methodic and waited until the doe presented broad side and she made a great shot with her .243. I’m a proud Dad!
