Just really started to get into hunting last year. Went mostly with my B-I-L but joined a camp this year and will be going there mostly this year. I am wanting to purchase some trail cameras to put out and get some pics this summer. Any advice and recommendations on what cameras are best are welcome. Thanks in advance!

You're going to get a multitude of answers - which is better Ford, Dodge, or Chevy?
Now that I've put that out there, I've had really good luck with moultries and tend to favor them. The 990i's I've had for a few years last a long time on one set of batteries. I've had several different brands over the years and keep coming back to Moultrie. Now the cameras I have, I usually get three hard years of use out of them (6 months per year) before they start having problems or not working at all. I have had one camera for over 6 years - old flash type moultrie - that just won't quit. There are some game camera review sites that are not endorsed by any manufacturers and give honest reviews on cameras - look them up (http://www.chasingame dot com is one) and you can look at some of the reviews on a camera you may possibly be interested in.

Best?  I don't know, I've had 2 Moultrie 880i cameras out for over 3 years with no problems.  Get the steel box and lag bolt that thing to a tree.  I use 1/4x3" SS bolts and a lock.  The one time I didn't do this I lost  a camera.

Best? I have no idea. Right now I have a Bushnell trophy and a browning. I like the Bushnell better.

On low sensitivity I've never had a false trip. Good quality night pics as well.

Any experience with Stealth Cam?

I have had 2 of the Stealthcam G42NG's on my property and have been very pleased with them.  I only use them on video and they take great vids as far as I am concerned.  They run on 8 AA's.  I use the lithium's and put them out in late August to early September and they run till I bring them home in Feb or March.

I put 32 GB cards in mine so if it's a week or 2 before I check them they still have storage room.

Here's a few vids off my cams.  I have a stand about 30 yards across the dry creek.

Difficult topic because objective long-term unbiased reviews are tough to find.

I'm retiring my Primos cams, replacing with Exodus. Just had a Primos go tits up for no reason. Hanging on a tree, taking reasonably good video, then dead. Pretty annoying when you put in hours hanging it high, locking to tree, etc.

I have Moultrie (3X), WildGame(1X), and Stealth Cameras (2X) out presently.  The Moultrie have held up the best and take the best pictures so far for me.  I have a Moultrie that is so old it's still using C-cells.  Keeps on ticking and taking good (though lower resolution) pictures.

All of these camera have been out for at least the past two years, several of them much longer. We run them pretty much continuously throughout the year.

I have around 20 stealth cams the I have had two problems with them. First if they get water inside they are done for, second if batteries leak in them.

I'm running 10 different cameras on a property I have - Cabelas, Wildgame, Spypoint, Spypoint Cellular and Spartan Cellular cams.  The Wildgames are cheap but take good picutres and run on C batteries.  The cabelas also take good pictures and run on AA.  The cabelas cameras probably have the best battery life.  The Spypoint Cell cameras have been a nightmare to get working.  They have to be on top of a hill for us to get signal.  1 of the 2 won't even connect to the network anymore.  The Spartan cell cam I go this year has been the best of the 2 cell cameras.  Connection to the network has been flawless and take awesome pictures.  With the Spartan, your pics are available instantly.  Unlike the Spypoint they only transfer a few times a day. The cell plan for the Spartan is much cheaper than spypoint which is a big winner.  Only down fall for both is Battery life.  Unless you have an external battery, we only get about a month out of the cameras.

I have 3 of them and they work great.
Mine are all connected to deep cycles on solar chargers, so I can't speak to battery life, but the images, video, and trigger times are fantastic.

I got a great deal on some Brownings.  I think they're great.  Super easy to use, great pictures, video could be better especially at night, but honestly it's not bad at all especially for the price.

I can usually fill a 32gig card with video and then some one one set of batteries...which IMO is a lot.

I've had primos, bushnell, wild game(yuck), and I've run Moultree's as well...some that are quite a bit more expensive than my Brownings, and honestly, I don't see a big reason to spend the extra money.

I have 2 Moultrie's that stay out year round with no issues. One is 8mp and the other is 12mp. They take around 150 pictures a week and I have to change batteries once a year (8 - AA).
