My son has been passing up does and bucks like this all season looking for a big buck.
He sure gave me crap for killing that buck.

Here is a picture of him in a ladder stand near a feeder with two does under it taken this afternoon.

The picture was taken from 150 yards with a digital so it isn't too good.

Here is a goofy 5 point I killed on Thanksgiving day. I thought it was just a spike but you can see two points at the bottom of his left side and can kind of make out the other point that goes down his forhead.

Well, I got this one on Tuesday morning.

It was just AM civil twilight when I heard a nice crunch crunch crunch in the grass in front of me.  I looked down to see it coming around the trees.  I put my sights on it and it kept coming right at me.  I didn't want to hit it in the head, so I let him get a little closer hoping he would turn.  He got within 15 yards and stopped to eat some clover.  I didn't want him to get any closer and chance not being able to take the shot, so I made a slight noise.  He turned ever so slightly and I depressed the trigger.  A split second later, a Lightfield 1 1/4 oz slug took out part of his spine, shoulder, and made a mess of his internals.  He dropped on the spot.  Not even a twitch.

Not that I really wanted a spike, but it's my first deer, and I wasn't about to pass it up.

My daughter can't wait to get out and get hers...that's her mad face that she didn't get to go with me.

Now there's plenty of meat in the freezer, ready for dinner!!!

Absolutely correct! My father worked three jobs as I was growing up to support our family of five children so he never had any "free time" to take us hunting. Luckily my father in law is an avid hunter with 1500 acres, 20 feed plots and 11 deer stands set up. I married into a good family, one that hunts and a wife that LOVES my gun habit

Im already looking foward to next year, my little brother who is 12 years younger sat in the stand with me and he is going to take his hunters safety class next year and go with a gun next time

This is my first deer this season (only 2nd one ever).  It was a pretty good sized doe for TX so I thought it would be good to get some meat in the freezer.

I'm still waiting for that good looking, mature buck to come through so I can get a trophy finally!  But for now this will have to tide me over...

I took it around 8am, it was about 38 degrees, and I hit it offhand with a 12ga slug from 103 yards (no optics or range finder).  I was pretty happy with the end result!

My nephew's buck off my farm. 1st day of shotgun season @ 1pm. The chump almost blew it, as he got out of the stand  I put him in ,30 minutes earlier to look for a spot for a climber because he thought he wasn't in a good spot! It was the 7th buck he saw.

12 point (10 pt with split brows) Busted off 8 inches of tine on left side as compared to right.
