Oklahoma primative 2008. 70 yards 240 grn XTP with 100 grn Pyrodex pellets. The deer dressed out at 120lbs and has a 20" spread with 12 points. I think it's gonna be a non typical.

Great looking deer.

here's the buck i shot opening morning.

i was shooting a handloaded 62gr TSX.  One shot was all it took from close to 200yds away.  he might have stumbled 10-15yds after being shot.  These TSX bullets really perform well.

Arrowed my fourth deer of the season this morning. It's an 8-pointer that dressed out at 170 pounds. Not my largest rack or body, but still a good bow buck nonetheless.

I'd say that I'm having a pretty good archery season so far.

Buckfever34 and I are running neck and neck. We've both arrowed 3 does a piece, I took my 8-pointer yesterday, and he took his 8-pointer this morning. I need to arrow a coyote to tie the score.

well congrats on a great season so far. i would like to put some meat up this winter. hopefully i will get one...

Got Doe #4 for the year today.

Killed on Ft. Gordon 0745 this morning.
1 oz. Winchester BRI slug, Winchester 1300 slug gun.

5th deer of the year so she got donated to Hunters for the Hungry, while doing my part to manage the herd.  A great weekend and I feel pretty good about my contributions if I don't say so myself.

ETA: I have now killed deer on an Air Force, Navy and Army Base...I thought that was pretty cool to boot.

Well I had never hunted at all before yesterday.
I got this 8 point around 3pm with my Remmington .243 using 100g Core Lokt.
~150 yard shot right behind the shoulder blade.  Through and through.
Ran about 20 yards and dropped.

Not bad for my first day!  haha

Crappy cell phone pics!

It was opening day in MO today.  I am about 35 miles east of Kansas City and hunt on a friends 40 acre farm.  I have found a sweet spot where the deer cross in the mornings and usually get several at that spot.

It was cold this morning, then started sleeting and then snow started really coming down.  Finally, it stopped.  About 8 am after seeing nothing, I hear a low grunt and try to see where it is coming from.  I hear it again and spot a decent size buck.  I let him get into a clearer shot and shoot at about 50 yards.  I think the bullet got deflected by a branch, fairly thick woods (my story and I am sticking with it).  He ran down into the clear about 35 yards away and gave me a great broadside.  I shot and hit him square through both lungs.  He ran up a hill about 75 yards and dropped, could barely see where he went, but spotted him right away.

Thankfully, he died right there on the hill and it was a nice easy drag bringing him back down and with the wet leaves on the ground.

He is an 8 point, almost a 9, but one tine is not long enough.  I am estimating dressed weight at about 165 or so.  I took him with a JC Higgins Model 50 in .270 Win. topped with a Burris 2-7x using Remington 150 grain Core-Lokts.

Kind of strained/pulled a muscle in my calf, so took the rest of the day off.  I will spend the rest of the season killing does.  The one good thing about being out of work is I can hunt every day of the season, well only part of the day on Wednesday, I have an interview with a recruiter.    I usually get 3 on opening day at the sweet spot, put hurting myself put the kaibosh on that.  Went home and napped for 4 hours.
