Might be fun to search for a service manual and do an alignment if you have the necessary tools. |

It's raining outside right now and my antenna is unplugged from the radio. Maybe I can catch a park on FT8 later this evening or something.
I just need one more new park. Attached File |

I forgot to do that last time and it was a missed opportunity. I still have 13 states to go for POTA WAS, but somehow I managed to get HI and DC already. It's the New England states I have trouble with. I have a mountain in the way in that direction. |

Bands were up and down this weekend. The highlight was getting HI P2P, my 5th DX entity P2P.

we activated our 76th park today
worked Cuba bands seemed up & down bought some 300blk reloading supplies it was a fine day |

I didn't get a chance to hunt any parks today as my oldest kid had a volleyball tournament like 4 hours away from home, so we didn't get home until 9:30. I did try to make a contact in the mobile on the way home. There was a guy on 20m operating from St. Croix, and I tried, but he either couldn't hear me or I didn't time my calls right in the pileup.

I finally worked AK tonight on 17m SSB, K-7238 Salcha River State Recreation Area. I had already been awarded POTA WAS with a D.C. wildcard contact, but never could get Alaska confirmed until tonight. |

I should be activating some game land in western PA on Friday afternoon/evening. It's very close to the track where I'll be racing.

Finally got around to uploading my log for my very first activation. 52 contacts in one hour using my previously posted antenna. Pretty happy for my first try and things being a bit fumbly. Hardest thing about it was logging.

How come every time there is a shooting, they want to take away the guns from the people who didn't do it?

You can concentrate on working the pile, and she logs. Works great. If you can talk the wifey into it. Mine is also licensed, and she kinda enjoys it. |

I did my first successful POTA activation tonight with the Ft-710 and a 20m dipole strung up about 15-20 feet in the trees. About 8 USB/Phone Contacts and maybe 16 on FT8. First DX phone contacts from Italy and Spain as well. The 20m band was very clear tonight. I was running 35W SSB and about 20-25w for FT-8.
I could not believe the low noise in the park. I had squelch all the way up and the noise floor turned down. I was listening for a bit and picked up talkers clearly who didn't even register a signal. |
|
|
K-2328 will be activated this weekend. I'm heading up there tomorrow morning with a few others that went up today.
So, if you hear that one theres a decent chance its me. Mention beans or no beans. If he doesn't know tell him to ask the other operators until he finds the right answer. (no beans) |

When you were in the clear a solid S5, but all the guy’s tuning up on your calling frequency was horrible.

It looked like a awesome venue, but my wife had to work and I just don't like to travelling that far from home solo. You should take a day off next year and I'll drive. |

Yesterday I met HI8POTA and his wife at the park I activated. We exchanged qso on 2, 220 and 440.
This morning I activated in IL, midday the Herbert Hoover site in IA and tomorrow I'll start off at the Minuteman missile site+Buffalo Gap Grasslands between 0730-0830 Central time. Then I'll go to the Badlands. Late in the day I may get on the air in the Black Hils NF, hopefully right after enjoying a freshly caught trout. |

My new wolf river setup is going.
First digital pota K- (edit) 20m Maybe some other bands later |

Last minute hike-in activation of a local park the other day. All I had with was the QCX pack in the pickup. That and the 20m K6ARK did the job, first ten in six minutes, including one to Norway.

Nice chinesium box for my FT-710 on sale from HF for $29. Not what I would call pack-able, but looks good for banging around in a vehicle. This is the Apache 3800 case.
