I think UPS has lost my radio. It left Lenexa, KS on the 17th and disappeared.
I ordered a programming cable for it from CA. It shipped USPS and should be here tomorrow. |

FYI, Woot seems to have some in stock:
https://electronics.woot.com/offers/digital-moblie-transceiver Since the headline is really generic, it's probably why they still have some. |

It's OK, R&L said they have at least one coming in sometime, they are not sure when. I am first in line for one when they show up.

I ordered one from HRO back n January and FedEx is supposed to deliver it tomorrow after being lost for a week...

I finally got my radio. Unfortunately, USPS seems to have lost my programming cable within an hour and fifteen minutes after the seller dropped it off at a CA post office over a week ago.
I'm getting the fun (not) of programming it manually. Figuring out how to to what was a pain in the ass and the manual is not that good. I would have thought YAESU would have a better manual. The manual for my Kenwood TM-281a was much more straightforward. |

Also, I can't recommend the nifty guides enough. I have one for my FT3DR, D710, FT70, and VX6. They seem to have every function would / do use and i rarely have to go back to the actual manuals for any radio. They're perfect for quick referencing, even in the vehicle. Nifty 7250dr manual at dxengineering. |

Got mine a couple months ago to use in my office. Still havent been able to get on the flat roof to mount the antenna, so its just gathering dust at my desk till it thaws out around Michigan.

I thought it was pretty easy to program the 7250 once I got started with it.

Quoted: You got a bad 7250. I use mine mobile exclusively and have no audio issues with the internal speaker, either on analog or Fusion. My problem was that I plugged in an 8 ohm external speaker initially, once I plugged in a 4 ohm speaker my issues were solved. |

Quoted: Yep, I'm a grouch sometimes. But at least I don't have gout or prostrate problems. View Quote I got my 7250 almost a year ago, and I like it a lot. It is a good, solid VHF/UHF radio without a lot of extra "features" that I didn't want to pay for. |

Quoted: I programmed my 7250 manually I find YAESU the easiest to navigate, I like the way once inside the menu, everything is alphabetical. APO, BCLO, BEEP Key, etc. It behaves just like my older rigs like the 7800 did. I guess it just depends on what you're used to. . . year ago, I had an IC-2100 in my work mobile, a TMV71 in my truck, and an FT-7900 at home. My muscle memory was so screwed up. I remember sitting on the shoulder of the road, trying to change the PL tone on the ICOM and couldn't figure it out. after that, I put FT7800/FT7900's in everything. I love that little radio. . . . https://i.imgur.com/zlG0xZ3.jpg View Quote I have the same issue. Trying to learn too many different radios just makes your head explode. The 7250 reminds me of my Alincos so it’s not too bad. The FTM300 is just like the FT3DR handheld so if anyone has one I’d recommend getting the other as the learning curve is dramatically shortened. |

I like Yaesu, they are all very easy and similar to program by hand, mobile and ht. I have been watching a few Yaesu mobile radios on ebay, and they usually end up going for more than retail.

R&L just called me, and they got at least one in, and I decided to get it, not sure if they got more than one, might be worth a call if you want one.
It figures it would show up the day after buying the FT 7800, but I am getting it anyway. |

Quoted: Check youtube on how to program one. Even my stupid ass can program one just using the radio. It really is easy. View Quote The great thing about programming my FT-70DR is that the RT Systems software accesses Repeater Book, and I was able with one simple click to add over 80 repeaters within a 50-mile radius to my radio. That would have taken hours to manually program each frequency, offset, tone, and name. |

I did mine manually. and my 7250, and my ft60. They are all almost the same, and one you get the hang of it, it goes pretty fast. I used software for the FT 7800 and 7900, and yes, it was faster.

On the subject of components shortage:
A friend of mine was at the Atlanta HRO store, about 10 days ago. The store was almost empty. They had less than 10% of normal inventory. |

I should have bought two, one for the car and one for the house.

I read this thread Tuesday during the net. Went straight to R&L's site and it showed in stock. I ordered one, and a comet GP-6 antenna. Tracking shows out for delivery. I should have them today. By the way, I checked R&L's site the next morning and it showed out of stock. I might have ordered the last one.
Edit: I just checked R&L's site. They show them in stock (4-9-2021). Yaesu's site still shows them as a current model. |

I'd back ordered the RT Systems software and cable from Hamcity. I got a call yesterday that RT Systems has it in (the cable I assume since you DL the software) and they could have it drop shipped from RT Systems if I still wanted it. I did and it shipped today. It was cheaper there than anywhere else I found.

I got mine. We had a major breakdown at work and I was sent to nights, so I haven’t had a chance to set it up. I’m anxious to see how the Comet GP-6 antenna performs compared to my 2 meter only Jetstream 1442.

For those who own this radio:
Does the squelch adjustment only affect the frequency you are currently on, or does it affect all frequencies across the board? I'm getting some noise while driving, but only on certain frequencies. I don't want to crank the squelch up on the entire radio, but would like to for those troublesome frequencies if possible. I was driving in town when this interference occurred. I have zero experience with mobile radio, so perhaps it is normal to get periods of static while moving and monitoring a frequency. |
|
I finally got mine set up and programmed. Nice little radio. I can't tell any difference between the Comet GP-6 and the Jetstream 1442 on 2 meters. I haven't made any 70cm contacts, it's not used much around here. So far I'm very happy with it.

Hope it works out. I'm sending mine back to Yaesu as it burned up.....again. Service Manager tried eating my ass out for their radio failing. Said he'd fix it one more time and that was it! What fucking service is that??? No one gives a shit about the customer or making it right. When I get this back I'm selling it.
