I was hearing NCS 10-15 dB over s9 but there was some QSB and QRN probably from some thunder storms in KS. If we were on longer, the band would have gone long but we'd have more QRN to deal with.

Yeah 15' horizontal is gunna limit your range for sure. If nothing else, grab a battery and head to the woods. I do the net portable as long as it is not raining. My home antennas are not ideal and I have a high noise floor. |

I tried checking in on 40 while bicycle mobile. I was hearing everyone alright. Good RX on 80 too but can't TX with a 40m hamstick.

I got 10' of some sort of "sprinkler wire" from the hardware store for like $4. It has 6 or 8 thin wires in it. I just got that and removed the individual wires. Used three of them to wind the 9:1.
