Tomorrow's net could be interesting: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/solar-storm-predicted-by-nasa-what-damage-could-the-flare-cause/ar-AAZHW2j

A solar storm will hit Earth early this Tuesday, July 19, 2022. The warning comes from a NASA forecast model applied by the scientist Tamitha Skov, who has described this flare phenomenon as a filament in the shape of a snake coming from the Sun. (article continues at link)

We are under a severe thunderstorm warning right now. I'll keep an eye for the lightning conditions but may not be able to do the 20m part at 7:30. 40m is still questionable but I'll keep you guys posted. I don't operate when there is a chance for lightning in this area. The Yagi antenna is well above the top of the trees.

I was hoping the storm would pass north of us but it looks like a big chunk of the storm is heading this way. It's predicted to get here in about 20 minutes. I just heard thunder.
Guys, you'll just have to do this without me. I'll let you know if this changes.

I hear some regulars in there, but NC(?) is too light for me to attempt. Will continue to monitor and will speak up if conditions here improve.

They sure made it look like a major hurricane. My weather radio kept beeping with warnings but we only got a tiny bit of rain. No wind. No major lightning. The worst of the storm was about 15 miles north of my QTH.
I probably could have done the net but it's better to be safe than sorry. My rule is: Disconnect everything and leave the shack if I hear thunder.
Glad you guys had a good net. I want to thank the volunteer NCs.
Guys, please keep TheOtherDave in your thoughts and prayers. He has lost his house due to fire.

Andre is at best 33 here in Maine.  It doesn't even sound like him, sounds off-freq. Not really hearing checkins either.  Noise level here is very low compared to at home.

Yeah, I can hear stuff sort of going on, but can't pick anything out except the few stations I mentioned before. It's funny, because earlier this evening I had QSOs with Morocco and Lithuania on 20M.

Someone said we were interfering with their net on 7.279. They must be running crappy receivers since our freq was far enough from them. I need to find another freq. Standby.

"Experts" that have no idea how to use filtering. 3khz is plenty far away unless you are one of the idiots running ESSB trying to sound like you are an AM station.

I managed to snag several of these from one of our members that did a run them recently. The smaller black patch was gifted to me several years ago by another member.

I've been getting good reports since I've been in ME. I wish I had the same space for antennas at home and the lack of noise vs the S9 noise at home.

Welcome!  If you need to add some QSO's to your logbook, let us know during a net and most will hang around afterward. (might wait for a lower noise night though)
