I just got blasted by some sort of local interference here. Hopefully it passes quickly. My radio sounds like a hair clipper

I’m barely hearing NC tonight on 7.285, despite being close to NC. Unless something changes, looks like I’m a no-go for the net tonight. I’ll be out there throwing out some CQs on 20 for a little while to see what I can catch. |

Not sure how to do that. If somebody hears your call but net control can't hear you, they'll say "relay". Then Net control will say "Go ahead relay" and the relay station that heard you will pass your callsign along. Somebody just relayed me in without even asking. ARFCOM is good people! |

View Quote Thanks, This forum and YouTube has been a treasure trove. I only started thinking about compression this morning. I’m down for the night now, early day tomorrow, but I would like to try next week if you are on the air. I took some good advice from here: put up a balanced wire connect straight to a manual tuner and go from there. |

Gyprat, I heard you 59 in northern IL on 40 meters. I changed to my loop to null out some of the noise.
I just couldn't get through to you, though. 80 meters was extremely noisy for me, even your signal was quite a bit lower than usual. My antenna is a ZS6BKW at about 35' sloped down to about 17', and I use a loop to receive in noisy conditions. I am able to work your neck of the woods in better noise conditions, I had two 59 contacts in the GA QSO party Sunday. For me, you were the loudest signal of the night. There was another station or two that came close, 4 or 5 calls. Better luck next time, I guess. |
