There's an idiot with a POS generator powering a food truck about 50 feet from me. Not only is the stupid thing loud acoustically, it's noisy electrically, too. Grrrr.

Still learning here, barely know how to turn on the radio but with a 1/4 wave dipole about 5 feet off the ground. Anyway, here in Sarasota I heard Mass. NC, Ark. and a couple more I couldn't get locations on. Net Control was very strong and clear.
I have to do something different. my SWR was 3.0 even it I could transmit I wouldn't want to. |

SWL
Handheld GP-5, from Long Island, NY I heard and understood stations from Wisconsin, Mass., Iowa, Arkansas, W. Virginia, and NCS. The received signal, while not as clear as some of last weeks net, was very consistent. This may be attributed to my longer antenna(18 ga wire), running about 28 feet, N-S orientation. I plan on having some better equipment soon(SDRplay RSPdx, and a magnetic loop antenna). |

Thanks to everyone for the signal reports. Thanks to Andre for net control. Ray has a very good sound tonight. Looking forward to next week. Might have my new to me Paragon next time.

Nothing light or stranded that was suitable at either radio shop. They had LMR400 and fancier. I did get a piece of RG58 from one of their satellite shops coming for tomorrow. Both shops were very helpful, one fellow was looking up amazon shopped wire just to put a product idea in my hand. The other shop had a nice conversation with a guy while he was having the his out of town shop check their supplies. I don’t think I could beat their price shopping on amazon and pretty sure they don’t buy chinese made wire. |

The SDR showed up late this afternoon and I already installed it on my desktop, Started learning it on the 2M band(the only antenna I have right now). I probably have some RG58 laying around, I'll just have find some fittings for it. |

I started SWLing just a minute before Gyprat was closing down the net. Heard him pretty well on my TecSun PL660, using a 35' piece of speaker wire laid out the side of the house. Heard him talking with the fellow who gave his location relative to Memphis.
