The great thing about 2 time zones ahead is one beer and a double shot of Irish cream down and I still have about 45 minutes until net. Attached File

Bumping for tonight's net. Thinking about giving away a free ball of drier lint. Still working out the details on that.

Scooter asked about pictures from the week in Moab. I put together a g-doc and made up a short link to it -- In short, once the storm blew through (our arrival was delayed a day) we had fabulous clear blue skies; cold nights and cool days -- perfect for hiking.
https://tinyurl.com/Moab-Mar-2018 Not sure how much of the net I'll attend this evening. It's wife's and my wedding anniversary today and we're out to dinner. Obligatory ham radio comment: I tried once again to set up my MFJ 20m telescoping vertical at the condo we were staying at. Once again, nothing but noise. Think I need to try a horizontal antenna next. 'QLP 30mar18 |

Per my comment in last night's net --
I'll be partying with the Peak Radio Association, on the occasion of the 7th call-district QSO Party. The party runs from 6 AM to Midnight PT (18 hrs) this coming Saturday, May 5th. We'll be operating as W7PRA from central Oregon, activating two counties -- Wheeler and Crook. The plan is to operate several bands and modes -- SSB, CW and Digi-. I'll be 'out of pocket' for the Friday night get-together. 'QLP |

Bump for tonight's net.
Our son is home from college and we're taking him out for a birthday dinner. May miss net as a result. |
|
Your son's birthday is more important than the Friday net? Really?
Next thing you know, your turning off your radio to "read"! By the way, I was a little disappointed not to get a picture of you taking a nap...... Now that I think about it, that sounds a little weird without context. |

I used a hombrew 20m small loop in a hotel room once and even that had a fair smout of noise it was usable and I made boice contacts and FT8 contacts with 20 watts |

Drinking Modelo Negra tonight. Hydration is important when gabbing on the radio.

|
Local news said it's national wine day. So after a couple beers I switched to wine.
On a somewhat related note, my attempt at activating K-0031 was a failure. More tonight. |

Won't make it tonight. Have to help wife unit get ready for the neighborhood yard sale starting at 8AM tomorrow.

I got my Italian on tonight..
2 glasses of merlot later: 1# sweet Italian sausages. Skinned and chopped. Spices. Cuz its gud. Browned up the chopped sausages, mixed in some Sauce and paste. Some more spices. Did note, just after adding the sauce that it was sauce and sea salt. Good thing I did not salt the meat. Hid the salt so I wouldn't be tempted. Then realised all I had was macaroni. So I made that up. 'Twas gud! Net in just under 15 minutes. |

Bump for tonight's net.
I may miss it tonight because it's "Date Night" and I love my wife. |

Is this a thing this evening?
If so, I'm planning to jump on if a) I remember to at the appropriate time, if I actually get free of work. And b) the Android platform works. Anything else I should be aware of? |

Poop. My Echolink on my laptop says it's connected, but doesn't show anything over in the box where all the participants show up and there's no audio.
When I try Echolink on my phone it says there's no route to the server. Guess I won't be joining this evening. |

Scooter: Is this not on the air in Vegas any longer? I had the radio on this evening and didn't hear a peep. Maybe a different W7AOR frequency than before?
