Snow day!

Net is tonight. Bring milk, bread, and eggs for a snowbound N/C.
Or a St. Bernard with a jug.

Due to this thread, I downloaded and got authenticated on Echolink tonight and listened in for the end of the net.  I don't have a mic on my computer, but that will be fixed soon.  I'll be joining in soon!

If you have a smart phone, you can use the Echolink app as well.  You can use it with the external speaker "speakerphone style" or using earbuds with a microphone.

IRLP is all new to me. But a local repeater has it. I was able to connect it to IRLP Western Reflector 9257. Received the welcome message from Nevada.  but I don't hear anyone. What am I doing wrong?

Really weird.  I punch in "503" to bring the node up. I receive a beep back.  Then I punch in 9257. I get a message that says "error 200 2" followed by the welcome to the western reflector message.

ETA:

I got it. I hear you guys now.

Spent the weekend at arrowhead park, western Iowa.  The plan was to activate park on the air.
Found out from the guy who was going to activate, that the park is listed on POTA, but hasn't got a number yet.. so no activation.   I think we had 17 people show up for a non club sponsored event.. Several of us stayed the weekend.  4 hf stations throughout the park mainly in 2 areas. I worked 20 mostly this morning before it realy got rolling, or the hangover weakened.  7area qso party was booming in. We did band coordnation via .52.. it worked fairly well.  I used my 817 as the 2 meter simplex at my shack/ shelter.  That worked real well. People seemed to gravitate to it when others called them under the picnic shelter. Even over their own ht on their belts.
Ill post up my station picture later this week after i get it off the phone and shrunk down.

All in all a great weekend to play radio. Also a opportunity to see weak spots in portable stations before field  day. I did find out that beer at the camper 1/4 mile away sucks when the radios are that far away. I need to work on that. Either set up my shack at the camper and have 3 areas on hf, or bring a bigger cooler with.

Attachment Attached File

As reminded:
Field day box. (might be a bit large for a go box)

4U Roadrunner rack box.
Build and tweaking still in progress.
Top: Icom IC-7000,remote plug for the 7000, LDG IT-100 auto tuner (for Icom radios), and hiding up in the corner Signalink.
Bottom: Icom IC-2730, fused power distribution RIGrunner, Jet stream 25A power supply (won that at a flea market).

Icom was chosen because I had the 7000 and its a fine radio. The Heil head set will plug into either radio.
Radio on top is the Yaesu FT-817 (non-ND) doing 2 meter simplex at the time. We were doing band control via 2 meters simplex and I was too lazy to set up the 2 meter big antenna. That radio is powered at the time with a small 12v Li power pack. (Think portable c-pap machine size) 11,000mah. That radio was quite popular at this event. I had a crowd while I was working HF, and one of the guys that was watching had his kid call him on simplex. Instead of using his HT he asked and used the 817.

If there's no room left in the box, it's not too big.

Carrying it may be another story....

NET INFO
Friday 6PM PST to 7:30 ish. ANY of the nodes below will get you into the net.

AllStar 46535
IRLP Reflector 9257
Echolink Conference *DCF-ARC*

The ARF-COM IRLP/Echolink/AllStar Net will be held on IRLP Western Reflector 9257. This IRLP reflector is linked to Echolink Conference Server *DCF-ARC* 336037 full time. Also, ALLSTAR 46535 is connected 95% of the time.
View Quote
To reflect the time change, Allstar Node 46535 will bridge to the Echolink side at 1730 (PST) and will disconnect at 2030.  For those in the Las Vegas area, the W7HEN-H3 repeater (447.725- pl:114.8 east Vegas/Henderson) will carry the net from 1755 (PST) and disconnect at 2015.

For those that want more info on Allstar visit https://hamvoip.org/.  Long story short think of Allstar as an improved IRLP: No proprietary hardware and running full duplex and unlimited connections without the need for Reflectors.
