Technician 8/2013, plan to upgrade to General late this summer. Baofeng  UV-5re, Wouxun KG-UV3d both set up for 2m/440. Also a Radio Shack HTX-212 connected to my home-brewed J-pole at home, and a Kenwood TM281 in the jeep.  Looking forward to upgrading as soon as i can pass the tests.

Reading this thread today it looks as though we had tons of newly minted hams over the last several months, with lots of zero to Generals and plenty of Extras too.   Congrats to all, welcome to the sickness!   I have been in this cockamamie racket for 36 years and it is good to know we still have more coming in every day (I would hate to be the one overtorqued nut in the world)!

Technician and General on Father's Day 2016 as a result of lurking here way too much.

FT-2900

FT-857D

TH-G71 connected to Mobilinkd TNC2 and an old Android phone for APRS

SDRplay RSP1 tapped into the house coax fed by an attic TV antenna (hoping to tap into an 857d and use this for a waterfall display)

First licensed overseas, in the late 80's with a Category 2 license (no additional band limits but 200 W max. allowed TX power). Quickly upgraded to a Category 1 (EXTRA equivalent).
Got licensed in the US in the mid-90s, first as a Technician Plus and soon later upgraded to a 13 WPM General and also passed the 20 WPM Extra.

Main shack and most antennas are remotely located in the back of the property, about 80 yards from the house, too keep RF noise at minimum.

Too many HTs and VHF/UHF radios to list.
My primary HF base rig is a Yaesu FTDX-3000d. Mobile rig is an Icom 7000.
Other HF toys are:
Yaesu FT-1000MP Mark V.
Elecraft KX-3
2 x Yaesu FT-857d
Yeasu FT-817d (primary portable radio).
Kenwood TS-520
Icom IC-756 ProIII

Amplifiers:
ACOM-1000 (primary)
Ameritron ALS-600

Antennas:
Mosley Pro-67, 40-10m, 7 element Yagi beam on a 75 ft tower, Ham IV rotator.
Cushcraft R8 vertical.
80m dipole at 70 ft above ground.
5 element , rotatable 2m/440 Yagi at 85 ft above ground.
GP-9 dual band, high gain vertical ( the only antenna at the house).

This hobby can be very expensive and very addictive.

IC-7300

80m, 40m, 20m home brew Inverted Vees on the same 1:1 Balun. Sort of a 3 band fan, 4 if you include 15m on the 40m, but the dipoles are rotated
80m is wired E-W
40m is wired N-S
20 m is wired NW-SE

I get <1.3 SWR on all of them across the bands, except for the 80m, I don't have the bandwidth to do the whole band, just 3/4s of the upper half.

CS-801 2m with a Diamond F22A antenna

All sitting on the same 38 foot folding mast made of 2 inch EMT galvanized pipe with military surplus aluminium camo support poles.

2 Boefeng UV-82s

Also made a 75Ahr portable power pack with a 100 watt solar cell for truck portable ops and have a surplus mil camo tripo thing for a 34 foot mast and a 20m inverted Vee and VHF antenna on it.
fed by RG8x

Here is a pic of the top of the mast.

I have had my HF radio for 5 days and have worked

Portugal
Slovenia
France
Croatia
Italy
Austria

I really want a 20m yagi and a 1kw amp.

This hobby is expensive.

EDIT 5 Sep 2020

My mast is now 50 feet and still has the HF wires on it, but the VHF Diamanon F22A now has it's own mast at 35 feet.
I made a portable lightweight 40m dipole and have a USAVertical 35 foot tripod mounted 40/20m dipole, an 80m endfed for portable, a Wind River couil with tripod that has a 17 foot telescope mast or the one that came with it.

also added a 160m doublet fed by 600 ohm homebrew ladder line

I use a hybrid HF antenna in the truck. A Wind  River 80m coil inside the cap and a wire through the cap to a 8 foot whip mounted on the luggage rack.Connected to it is an FT-891 and an MFJ-993 auto tuner.

I also have a 7 foot VHF antenna on that luggage rack with an aluminium ground plane that is connected to an Icon 2200H VHF radio.

I have a few more Baofengs and a TYT-UV380 DMR HT that I really like. I UHF hotspot, a GD-77 high power hotspot to a VHF antenna that pout out 30 watts for the hotspot and another full duplex hotspot.

For HF I use an AL80B and a Healthkit SB-220 for power.

Also have a picnic table portable self contained rig with a CS-108G 20 watt HF radio, manual tuner, counterpoise  tuner, telescoping antenna that mounts to it and a signal link with a Microsoft Surface 3 tablet for digital mounts portable.
