So marking this. I will gladly check in and if we have a digital net that one too.
Just need to get coax run from windom to the inside. I have the cable but cant come thru the floors anymore since we have new floors. LOL |
|
Gents: will be away on business travel this Tuesday so no check-in for me and, more importantly, I will not be able to run the digital net at 2200. Maybe next week!
|
|
I will be at a local radio club meeting this Tuesday, but I should be able to get on next week.
|
|
Cut some more wire tonight.... will give antenna #2 a try this time.....

On friday I assembled the new 100 ft tower that will replace our clubs 140 ft tower that was destroyed by a tornado in June. Some other members were supposed to run the coax on it yesterday. Looks like we will have the antennas on it and set it the beginning of next week. |

Antenna 2 is up and she tunes.... a bit higher than last week, but I'm concerned still not high enough....
we shall see.... |

Quoted: Antenna 2 is up and she tunes.... a bit higher than last week, but I'm concerned still not high enough.... we shall see.... I'm listening on 3898 if you want to call CQ ARFCOM. I do have some QRM, but I might be able to hear you. |
|
Quoted: nothing? I don't believe I heard any CQ. I just called CQ. Anything on that end? |

Is everyone hearing the same extreme QRN noise level I am? +10 over with crashes +30 over? Indianapolis area.
|

Quoted: Is everyone hearing the same extreme QRN noise level I am? +10 over with crashes +30 over? Indianapolis area. Three bags full. The weird thing is, I can't seem to tune them in really well. I haven't tried too hard, but I couldn't lock in their frequency when I did try. Oh wait, you said QRN. I just have some bad QRM. |

heard a qso about 5 minutes ago, but it went silent. Monitoring...

Quoted: nothing? Blonde moment. Just realized I had set it to USB |

Just finished up a nice 15+ minute QSO with K9BOB. I heard u a time or two down in between crashes... |

3.898?
All I can hear is noise. The static crashes are coming in beautifully tonight.... |
|
Quoted:
Is the net on yet? I've thrown my call out a few times. I'm guessing no one is hearing me. If anyone wants to try digital, I'd be up for a little bit. |
|
Listening,....
I hear someone down in the weeds. I need to get my interface hammered out for digital. JB |
|
Heard someone say stand by for the Arfcom net about 5 min ago.

Heard someone say stand by for the Arfcom net about 5 min ago. ....what that possibly "KC9***....standing by for the ARFCOM net" ? If so, that was me. I hoped that would get a response of some sort. I'm probably going to throw in the towel for the night. |

I think I hear KM saying something about coming home from his "usual radio club meeting".

Who said something about an amplifier and that "life's too short for QRP"?

Something about 92 or 93 and Florida. Good DX in the summer months and law enforcement.

Quoted: Ha! That was km saying life's too short for QRP. He pushed 5/5 there for a little while. |

Was me saying I couldn't afford to be schooled on amplifiers |
|
Quoted:
Was me saying I couldn't afford to be schooled on amplifiers These guys are going to talk me into buying an amp. I can see it coming, and I can't get out of the way! |
|
OK, heard a guy talking about amps for a while. Who was that?
He was talking about a 3-tube model (assume he was talking about the Ameritron AL-811) and 4-tube model (AL-811H). And 600 watts being just enough to get you up over the noise, but legal limit getting RF into other electronics. Yada yada. I was only hearing that side of the contact. Could not hear the other side at all. ~ AFM |

K9BOB and I were discussing them. I think he was the one who said that life is too short for QRP
I said I rarely used mine |
|
Quoted:
It wasn't me that said life is too short for QRP Maybe it was K9BOB. |

I think that was K9 Bob telling me it was a good night to have one. I wish I could!
Still a little new to this, so I'm still working out trying to track who's who on a net. With so much noise sometimes its hard to tell. I'd love to have an Amp, but I think the XYL would bury me with it... |
|
Tried a couple times right before you guys closed the net. I guess I was down in the static crashes.
BigDaddy said he could just make a voice out. I know my ant. is low enough for NVIS on 75 Central IL to IN should be easier than this. <sigh> JB |
|
You would think. The 75m part of my antenna is probably pointed the wrong way. I'm in SE IN, down towards Cincinasty. The hot leg of my 75m antenna is pointed right at bigdaddy in Indy, and I couldn't hear him nearly as well as km or k9bob. I might swing that leg a little to the north and see what happens. If the static wasn't so bad maybe we could've pulled it off. 40 seemed a lot quieter than 80 tonight before the net anyway. Never did hear the capt... |
