FINALLY got my lathe and mill moved into the basement shop. There's no real road to the basement door, and the two-track trail I made is steeper than it looks. My Kubota L3901 with forks could easily move my lathe and mill on the relatively level ground of my gravel drive, but on the trail, all that weight on the forks combined with the less than smooth terrain kept lifting a rear wheel off the ground. The mill I made lighter by pulling off the head, but after a couple of failed attempts with the lathe, I had to build a sled and get it up that way. There's always a way to get the job done if you keep chopping away at it! The sled has actually proved pretty useful, and I employed it to haul a big pile of scrap lumber away to where it's out of sight. I've already machined a few simple little parts that I was in need of. Sure is nice to have that capability back! IMG_1485 by Jim QRB, on Flickr |

At least thats why we used them so many years ago. |

Last weekend, tilled up a 5000 sq ft garden with the 1025R. Got it broken up OK. We have clay-ish soil here. Last Friday, we had 18yds of mushroom compost mix delivered and I spent Friday night moving that around and tilling that into the soil.
