Science fiction author Jerry Pournelle, co-author of the book, "Lucifer's Hammer", died Sep. 8th.  He was 84.  Full obituary was in the New York Times this past Sunday.  I DO NOT read or get the NYT, I saw posting about his death and followed the link.

I posted this in this particular forum since probably 99% of who post here have read "Lucifer's Hammer" at least once.  I have read it cover to cover at least twice.

Published in 1977, so probably written in 1975 - 76.

One of my favorite books. I had some emails back and forth with Jerry several years ago, and he published some correspondence from me on the Mail page of his website, Chaos Manor. He'll be missed.

RIP ... One of my favorite books in high school, along with First Blood.

Lucifer's Hammer made me want an International Travelall for a BOV.

Hammer was of course a collaboration with Niven, and not even their best collaboration.  That honor falls on The Mote in God's Eye.

Those two collaborated on a number of novels.

Oh ok! It was hard from the way they were describing it.

My best childhood friend's family had one, so I knew exactly what they were talking about.  Think of a Scout on steroids.
