What would they be? Home defense/zombies/aliens etc etc...

Right now I'm thinking 4 G17s, 2 shotguns(not sure what yet), 3 ARs and some type of .308. Should cover about every situation, ammo would most likely be the most plentiful, and parts should be plentiful. Only other thing I can think of is a .22. However given the potential situations I'm not sure if it would be worth the loss in firepower.

Thoughts?

All suppressed

I go back and forth on needing a magnum rifle or not, something like a 7mm rem mag or 300 win mag. Also, I might trade the 10/22 for a 12" Grendel AR, I go back and forth on that too.

My thinking was the most popular calibers(especially with .gov .mil and LEOs), most popular models with the most likelihood of finding mags/parts. If I had a 5.7 and cracked the slide what would be the odds on finding a replacement compared to a Glock. All in good fun. I'm bored watching football

I'm a big fan of Logistics. Utility, versatility, adaptability, etc.

Select 10:
2x .357 mag handguns
1x .45 acp handgun
1x 12 gauge shotgun (can also black powder)
1x 20 gauge shotgun (can also black powder)
2x .22 rifles
1x .243 rifle
1x .308 rifle
1x .30-30 rifle

With so many floating around, will eventually obtain:
9mm handgun
5.56x45 mm rifle
7.62x39 mm rifle

I'll be generic here:

A couple of shotguns, like a Benelli M3, 870.

A couple of revolvers like a snubbie and a .357/.44.

A couple of bolt guns like a .308/.260/6.5CM and or a .223/22-250 w/glass.

A couple of AR-15s in .223/556, and/or a .260 Rem/.308/6.5CM

A couple of pistols in 9mm, .40 and/or .45.

In the realm of anything or just what can actually be had? I'm thinking some post samples.

I'm personally not a big glock person but I think a g26, g17/g19, and a kriss vector post sample would be a really nice combo. Lets you carry 1 mag across a subgun, primary sidearm, and bug. Put threaded barrels on the glocks and have suppressors ready, upgraded sights, etc.

4th gun would be a good shotgun. Beretta a400 comes to mind but I'm thinking an old school 870(before Remington really started to suck) style with 2 barrels, short and a long for hunting.

5th would be a suppressed 10.5 or 11.5 m16.

6th would be a scar 17 or ar-10 in 308. Suppressed with thermal optic.

7th would be the same as 6th so we could have 2 people on lookout. Maybe with a night vision optic instead.

8th would be a 45 pistol, I'm thinking usp 45t with suppressor.

9th would be a smith and wesson 686 or 686 plus.

10th would be a backup for something above. Maybe another shotgun.

With that set I figure I'd have some of the most common ammo options covered for being able to trade or find in shtf. 9mm, 357mag, 45acp, 5.56, 308, 12g. The revolver is easy to reload and will handle lead ammo.

Assuming you could have spare parts or a few different uppers for the Colt that would about do it. You can cover a variety of situations from hunting, concealed carry, home defense and SHTF.

You would have to stock;
9mm
5.56
.308
12 gauge
.22 LR
.357 Magnum

Magazine compatibility from the G19 to the 26.

If you got a .300 BO upper for the Colt you could have more versatility for hunting, same could be said about a .22LR conversion for the G19.

SHTF for the typical suburban family you got the G19&26 and the Colt.

Are you doing this for yourself, family, or small group?  I can see the duplicates if you’re in a small family or group, but there isn’t much diversity and I still think a .22LR (especially suppressed) is worth its weight in gold when it comes to small game hunting or predator dispatching.  For myself, I really only need 8:

1. Scoped bolt gun in .308 (currently it would be my Savage Model 10 Predator)
2. Primary AR (EOTech or Aimpont) (suppressed)
3. Secondary AR (1-6x scope)
4. Mossberg model 500 12-gauge combo; 18” barrel + 26” barrel w/ chokes
5. Marlin Model 981 .22LR bolt gun with scope
6. Glock 19 9mm (suppressed)
7. Glock 26 9mm
8. Ruger 22/45 LITE .22LR (suppressed)

Fortunately, my son has his own arsenal now, so I don't need to worry about him.  To hit 10, I could add another G19 and possibly another .308 (FAL or M1A).  Another option could include my ATI AR15 9mm (Glock mag) pistol, but if I was really serious, I would opt for a Kriss pistol/SBR.  I just see a lot of versatility for a compact "pistol"/SBR when you need to go low-profile.

I guess if you have a family of four or five, that would change your choices as would your exact location and geography; open rural areas would likely require more range and better ballistics for hunting.  ARs are quite versatile, even if you wanted to change caliber and your ubiquitous .308 is extremely versatile for just about anything in the lower-48.  Pistol choices vary by individual, but it does makes sense to have a backup be it a full-size, compact, or sub-compact.  I really see the shotgun as more of a hunting weapon first, but could double as a defensive weapon with a shorter barrel; a good spot for my combo gun.  Again, I still see the .22LR as a very versatile addition to any armory.  My bolt gun is extremely accurate out to 150 yards and being a bolt gun, it will fire any .22LR CB cap/short through high-velocity.  The value of .22LR suppressed will likely (and quietly) put more meat on the table and handle most predatory critters without raising alarm.  I personally just see more need from my firearms than strictly self-defense, but if that is your specific focus, I could understand all the duplication.

If I could only own 10 guns, I would not waste money on that many guns but get less than 10 and spend the rest of the money on more important things.

Here is my choice:
1 - Glock 17 (high capacity and great ergonomics. Unsurpassed reliability. Requires very little maintenance)
2 - S&W Snub-nose 38 special revolver for concealed carry. (most comfortable for concealed carry, especially in summer)
3 - 22 LR Bolt action Marlin rifle with a good fixed 4x scope. (accurate, relatively quiet and cheap ammo)
4 - Any decent 12 Ga. pump shotgun (no comments needed)
5 - Rem700 30-06 scoped rifle ( for hunting big game)

This is about it. If all hell breaks loose, which is very unlikely, I'd definitely want to have an AKM, full auto, with at least 2 mags with AP rounds plus at least 10,000 rounds of regular ammo.  I love my AR15 rifles but I'm more familiar with what an AKM is capable of, including it's bayonet capable of cutting thick fence wire. Requires very little maintenance. Easy to clean in the field.

I'm not going to list guns I don't own
No point in that.
You wake up on Thursday and the Zombies are here.
So you go with what you have.
I'll go with my primary AR.
The dedicated sub caliber 22 rim fire AR
I'll throw in the Springfield 308 just to have it available.
For shotguns, the Ithaca 37 DSPS
The Remington 1187P
For revolvers, my Ruger GP and Security Six.
For semiauto handguns, My Glock 22 and 27
My Ruger Mk II

That's ten guns.

In reality I'd shave it down to my primary AR and the G 22.
Anything else is extra weight for anything I'm planning to do unless I'm abandoning the house and the majority of its contents entirely.

do uppers count as guns?

2 glock 19L's (17 chopped to 19grip flush with mag)
2 AR's one 11.5 with a ta44 acog the other a 14.5 with a trijicon 1-8 both suppressed, slinged and have weapon lights
.308 bolt gun also suppressed with quality glass 18.5" with light palma contour
some sort of PDW be it a super short AR sbr ps90 sbr or a sub gun sized like mp5k preferably with a cartridge capable of defeating soft body armor with a tri lug suppressor
12 gauge pump pick your poison as to which brand. Mossberg has served me well
ruger mkIII or 22/45 all metal grip stainless threaded with a rmr and suppressor

custom ruger redhawk in 45 colt with ~2.5" barrel small grip and 45 acp cylinder
16" rossi 92 in 45 colt or 454 casull with scout rail, peep sights and red dot threaded and suppressable of course
These 2 would serve as eotwawki guns that can be fed with blackpowder and cast bullets if need be.

That changes the dynamics some.  The best recommendation depending on the age members of the family, is adding some .22LR conversion kits.  Basic ARs are pretty light and collapsible stocks are prefect for smaller lengths of pull, and getting younger children to start with a .22LR is much easier (and cheaper).  You could get a conversion or two for an AR and one of the Glocks.

I missed this as well. I agree that it changes things. I would change It to 3-5 glocks and dependent on who fit what better probably mostly 19's and the 19L's mentioned earlier and maybe have a couple mini roni chassis' and suppressor's/threaded barrels put away to fulfill that PDW role.

Then I'd have 3 5.56 AR's sbr's with suppressors, slings, and lights and a red dot/ mini acog again dependent on who liked what. then I'd go with 1-2 .308 AR's with 1-8 trijicon's, suppressed, sbr'd ~12.5-14", slings, lights, quick detachable bipods.

then if there was a slot left I'd go back to that suppressed ruger mkIII or 22/45 as long as its a all steel frame with the rmr. this would be a foraging tool, and used to dispatch animals on a trap line, slaughtering, and heaven forbid if you had to dispatch a combatant covertly in close proximity. the 22 conversion kits would further the utility of the setup.

This is what I would select for my ten firearms.

2 Glock 19 pistols.  I would also get a Tactical Solutions .22 conversion for the Glock 19.

2 Windham Weaponry M4 carbines.  I would get a Tactical Solutions .22 caliber upper receiver.  This will give me a .22 rifle.

1 Mossberg Scout in .308

1 DPMS GII Recon in .308

1 Remington 870 12 gauge with 20" barrel  I would mount a Side Saddle ammo carrier on the shotgun and stay with a fixed stock.

1 Ruger 10-22 with a synthetic stock

1 Ruger American .22 LR bolt action

1 Glock 22 pistol

I selected the Glock 19 because it is slightly more concealable than the full sized Glock 17, but it will accept the larger capacity Glock 17 magazines.

The Windham M4 carbines, because they are very high quality AR's and will not break the bank.

The Mossberg Scout because it will accept AR-10 or M-14 magazines.  I could be pressed into use as a precision rifle if paired with a good scope.

The GII Recon because it will give me the advantage of a .308, but it has the same manual of arms as the Windham M4 carbines.

The Remington 870 because it has been around for decades and there have been over 10 million of them made.  I would lay in a longer barrel for bird hunting.

The Ruger 10-22 because they have been around for 50+ years and they can be easily scoped.

The Ruger American .22 bolt because it uses the same magazines as the Ruger 10-22 and the same rear sight.  Mine is extremely accurate.

The Glock 22, because the .40S&W is still a popular round.  I can buy a conversion barrel for it that will enable me to shoot 9 mm through it.  I would also get a Tactical Solutions .22 conversion for this pistol.  One pistol platform, three calibers.

That's a good idea.  I have a Glock 23, so it fits all my G19 holsters.  I actually use the 9mm barrel in it more than .40S&W and it runs flawlessly; having multiple caliber options in a single platform is a good option when talking about "limiting" your firearm arsenal.

x5 - Quality AR15's with quad rails
x1 - Mossberg 590A1, with a spare 24" choked 500 barrel and mag tube

Only other gun that could have been included is a M82/M107, or really any kind of Barrett brand .50bmg rifle. We had them at my work, specifically for killing cars.

If this is for real bad times, then less handguns and more rifles. Also, some caliber interchangeability.

Half of you have multiple types of handguns listed, and in different calibers.

ETA: And if we're listing of what we have... Well even with Trump in (and Hillary looking to usurp him), I'm still not compiling a list of my stuff. But there would be one 7.62x39 AK in list as well then. They're junkish rifles, but would likely find ammo.

Assuming you mean "per person" (as in ... not 10 guns for a family of 5) ...

(2) Ruger 10/22 with Leupold .... small game hunting (the staple of the colonial frontier diet)
(2) Ruger LCP .... deep CCW
(2) HK P2000 9mm .... all other handgun needs
(2) Scar-16 with Aimpoint CompM4S .... 5.56 defense
(2) Scar-17 with ACOG .... 7.62 defense and large game hunting

I have very little use for shotguns, but expect to see a lot of people add them.

2 is 1
1 is none

I may not get to 10

G21
G19 or 17
10/22
Ar15
Ar10
12ga SA shotgun
7mm RM

Theres always a place for 13+ 45ACP
9mm is too plentiful
Light, easy ammo, small game
Light weight, suitable for intermediate game
Medium to large game, self defense at distance
Birds,
If I can't kill it with a 7 mag I'm not shooting at it

Man, that’s tough
1)Glock 17. To me having a Glock means freedom. It’s the best fighting handgun, in the most popular caliber.
2) Glock 31. Because I think it’s the best handgun for self defense, in the best caliber.
3) H&K USP Compact 9mm. Tough as nails, as reliable as it gets and accurate.
4)FAL. Cuz… well. Gotta have a FAL.
5)Manurhin MR73 357 magnum with 9mm cylinder. I just love this gun. Strong contender for the first place. In fact I think if I had to give up all my guns but one, this one would be the one I’d keep. Because it’s the last, true combat revolver, because it’s a target gun, because it’s a  gun that can fire 100.000 rounds and keep shooting. Its also a rather rare gun that keeps going up in value.
6)H&K P7M13. Many claim it’s the best pistol ever made. Once you shoot one you can see why. It’s a tad fat on the handle but I still love it. Somewhat rare and expensive like the MR73, but still very much a pure breed fighting gun, reliable, safe, way ahead of its time. Not many guns can claim to work even with a broken extractor thanks to a fluted chamber. Accurate like few autos, especially for its size. Sweetest trigger in any combat auto.
7)Winchester 94/22. Gotta have a 22 and this ones does it for me.
8) Winchester 94 Trapper 357 magnum. Man am I loving this gun. So handy, so much fun and great partner for a 357 revolver.
9) Sucks, but you have to have an AR. Colt M4, adjustable gas front sight and Aimpoint red dot.
10)Sucks but you have to have a shotgun. Mossberg 500 with two barrels.

Bottom line is I would only require one bullet!  Because if I needed to make this decision, I would go insane and kill myself!  Too many to get rid of to get down to ten.

But, if I had to play this game...

Sig 226 9mm
Glock 17 9mm

AR in 9mm

Short barrel light weight AR

Benelli 12ga
12ga Pump

FAL .308
Savage 10FP .308

AK47 7.62x39
SKS 7.62x39

Just off the top of my head.
