Hmmmmm, Bayliner vs. Searay.

Is this the new epic ARFcom debate?

I vote Outer Limits

I've got me a 16' Grumman fishing boat from the 80's...works awesome.  been to canada with it several times.  carried it 3 miles across land into a secluded lake...that was good fishing.

Boating???? Someone say boating??

Out here in the great PNW we build our boats out of Aluminum! No tupperware for us!

Some of our boats go slow

Some of them go FAST!

Ive played around in all 4 of the boats above I play Navigator in the yellow boat during races sometimes. In 08 I will do the Navigator duties during 2 days of the world championship jet boat marathon.

This a good place for me to ask this question:

Several years ago there was a company that made an outboard motor that was backwards (the prop was in the front of the motor as opposed to being in the back of the motor).

Who made / makes this motor?

That was the top secret Polish Navy Assult Motor.

Seriously, I am curious also. Never heard of one. I have seen small outboards that could be rotated 180 deg. for reverse though like a Seagull.

LoL. That's funny.

I know I watched on one of the fishing shows a few years ago.

I'm guessing the idea didn't fly so it was shit canned.

Justcan't seem to find any info about online to show my buddy.

Well it appears that Volvo makes a motor like that.

VOLVO

Still not what I was looking for. I know there was a company that made an outboard like this.

Anyone?

never heard of an outboard with a forward facing prop. drives like this have been around and in use on the industrial marine side for years, they're called azimuth drives, Z drives, azipods, etc. they provide amazing maneuverability, mostly you see them on tugboats and OSV's (off shore supply vessels) which require exact maneuverability. they've also become common place on cruise ships, only recently they've become available to the recreational boating market.

I put together a 1974 16'7" Boston Whaler with a 1996 Evinrude 90hp, a few years back. Right now it's kind of like a rat rod for the water, a $6,000 boat that looks like a $2,000 boat. It's a great boat for running the Mississippi and St Croix rivers, and bringing the dogs out camping. I will have to post some pics later.

My last boat capsized. It didn't quite sink but it may as well have. My next boat is damn sure going to be a Whaler.
