Hammock camping really sucks if you can't find any trees.

I rarely camp where they're no trees. With that said, even on my motorcycle, I normally carry both a hammock and a 2p tent. Both are so small, why not. Plus, on my bike I have the room. :-)

All you need is a couple of stakes and some guy line.

No no. I ride around till I see someone already motorcycle camping and then I just ride up and start tying a hammock to it.

My wife and I talked about this.  We have some trips planned where a tent is a better choice (sites above tree line, colder temps, etc.), but with the extremely lightweight hammocks (sub 7oz), we both talked about splitting the weight of the tent and each taking a Sub7 (ENO specific) hammock.  They make for great lounge chairs, a good place to keep gear off the ground, and if camp is set up early enough, you can just relax and take a nap (in decent weather conditions) far more comfortably than in a tent.

Outside of backpacking we almost always have a hammock with us for road trips, car camping, and even just day hikes.

Hammocks are fine for kicking back in the shade sipping a beer. But sleep in one? Nope.  I can't sleep on my back, so it's a tent for me.

I sleep on my side in my hammock.

Or my belly.

Mostly my back.

The idea that you must sleep in line with your hammock is not the proper way to do it.

Sleep diagonally if you want to sleep on your side or on your belly, though belly isn't the best way to do it.

Get a doubles hammock, they have a ton more room.

It's all fun and games. Until you wake up with a bike on your face.

Hold true little line, hold true.

Found a primitive campground in utah last weekend after dark. The campground was heavily overgrown and there wasn't really good spots for a tent. Fortunately, finding a flat spot without weeds or bushes wasn't a problem.

Slept like a rock. I only woke up once when I heard some rain on my tarp.
