This is Siloam Springs State Park near Liberty, IL.  Just got back from a 4 1/2 mile hike on one of its trails. As you can see it's the time of year where some of the trees have already moved into their fall colors while others are just starting to turn.

I've looked at this thread over the last few years but never joined in.

I'll start with some very old pictures (1955)

Mom and Dad and Dad's cousin and his wife, my brother and I went camping at Rocky Island lake, Ontario

I still have this tent,   Spanish American war surplus Baker tent.My Great grandparents took it to travel the west in 1914.  It has been in our family ever since.  My parents used it on their honeymoon in 1949.

My brother and I holding some of the Northern Pike we caught. (I'm on the right with the cap)

Just a few pictures I scanned from my Dad's old slides.  Will have more camping pictures later.

OH.... For you people who are showing RV's.

That's not camping,  that is RVing.

You guys asking for more.   I only scanned about 100 of Dad's old 35mm slides.  Still have several thousand to go through.   It will be a while till I have all those sorted out.   And I also have thousands of my old slides to scan yet too.  Of course not nearly all of them are from camping trips.   We did do at least one 1 to  6 week camping trip every summer while I was growing up so there are  a lot of them.  I still need to scan the ones from my 1967 climbs of Devils Tower and Mt Rainier.  That summer our family spent 6 weeks traveling in the west.  At 16 and 17 years old Dad let my brother and I join a climb at both of those locations.  We don't have a lot of pictures of the climbs.  We didn't have a camera along climbing.  Dad took pictures from a long distance away so you can't see a lot in them.

How many more here have a Spanish American War tent?

OH,  I also have a Springfield 45/70 (1888 ramrod version cartouche 1891) that has been documented to have been issued to the NY 11th Calvary during the Spanish American War.

FUBAR camping trip to FDR state park in GA. Six hours on the road just to have one of my girls get sick the first night. Didn't take a chance, left after the first night.

GA was littered with these little shacks along the road, for ranch hands maybe?? Anyone know?

I'm very jealous of all of you that are already camping this year.  I still have to wait for about 3+ feet of snow to melt away before I can even think about heading out to the woods.  We had a lot of snow up here this year, almost broke our record in fact.

Can't believe I forgot to post these. Me and the dog did a 7 day trip to the Keweenaw peninsula U.P. back at the beginning of October. Lots of truck camping and lots of fall colors.
First night camping we got to watch this nice display from a picnic table in camp. (pro photo, not mine, my camera isn't good enough)

Second day we four wheeled to a spot near the huron mountains and camped out on the beach and scoped out some local waterfalls.

After the Hurons we drove up to the Keweenaw and headed out o the very eastern tip to High Rock Bay and set up camp.

High Rock has some beautiful beaches. Rocks, red sand and shipwrecks.

Found out later High rock has something else too......

The roads in the area are a bit rough. This is what a maintained, county road looks like. Keeps the masses away.

We hit Brockway mountain and got a few fall color pics, we actually managed to time it right this year.

The view from the mountain.

The last sunrise we got to enjoy before the weather turned on us.

The next night the winds picked up to 35 mph with 50-60mph gusts and it alternated between rain, sleet, snow all night so we packed up and started towards home. We were a little disappointed that we had to head out a couple days early and skip a few things we wanted to see but it was a great trip all in all.

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I'm enjoying your 'BOL' thread, great job btw! That thing (your whole thread) is full of win.
The critter cooking on the open fire is lamb. The fish was rather tasty, and yes, we caught -a lot- of it (more than we could eat).
We also hunted quite a lot.

Thanks brother!
