I haven't tried it, but I have given it some thought. I sling my AR across the chest  with a 2 point VTAC sling, I have considered putting one on my Remington 700 bolt gun. I just wasn't sure how it would work out. Has anyone tried it, or saw first hand someone do this?
Here is my thinking, where I deer hunt, its hiking in and out of the woods, mountain or hilly terrain. I carry a backpack, and if you have carried a backpack and tried to use a standard hunting sling, its hard to keep it in place while walking or climbing. I don't know, just an idea and would like to hear some thoughts, whether its positive or negative.

I think it would work fine if you had side sling mounts on the gun, similar to some of the adapters for 3pt slings on an AR-15.  If you use the regular sling swivels, it will probably not hang how you want it and could be uncomfortable.

yea, that was another thing, I just forgot to add to the post. I would hate to screw up my stock(synthetic) with adding side swivel adaptors and find out it didn't work

VTAC sells a fixed stock adaptor that works well for the buttstock and you could just use a sturdy sling loop for the front it should work fine for muzzle down ready carry.

You could also put the padded portion on your fore end and run it like a traditional sling it would probably work fine as well.

I used one on a M16 with the fixed stock adaptor and a HK sling snap attaching the sling to the standard bottom sling loop. Worked good and the hook let the sling come off the side a little so it was not all twisted up.

Funny you should mention that. I've been wondering the same thing lately.

I will eventually end up installing side mounts though.

I use them as a quick adjust sling. Set to carry muzzle up on the back tough.
