Looking to start loading up some sub's to play around with in my AAC SD 308. I just picked up 400 AMAX, 2lbs of trail boss, and some brass....
I have done a little bit of research and seeing most people starting around the 10gr mark for Trail Boss, but not seeing much other information than that.
Anyone have anything they have settled on? Any pet loads?
Any information would be great, as the info I have found has been on some questionable sites on the interwebs.
Thanks !

20" 1:10 barrel

Just make sure you chrono your loads and and don't test with the suppressor initially.   I'm interested in what you come up with

Yeah, that is the plan. Thanks for the headsup!

9.5 grains of trail boss was the most accurate, but without a chronograph I don't know the speed. 10.5 was subsonic, but wasn't accurate. I've given up on them until I get a chrono. They were quiet enough to make me giggle like a school girl, though.

Play around with 9-11gr in .5's and see what you get.

For reference I worked up a load with 225 BTHPs in my 16" DTA and TBAC 338P-1. Dry firing the gun is actually louder than this load.

225 BTHP 2.225"@ogive
FC case
#34 primer
11.2 Trailboss
~1000fps and 3/4moa

I've made good hit to 500yds with this one initially but I started running into high ES/SD for some reason. Pulled down the ones I had left, charges were all consistent, pretty sure I had deburred all the flash holes. Haven't messed with them anymore.

I use 8.3 grains of trailboss for mine. 10 inch encore barrel though. good accuracy with it. IMR 4227 works well also, but there is a lot of room left in the case. trailboss will prevent an acidental doubble charge because it nearly fills the case  up.  just make sure they are getting out of the barrel

I was going to do these bullets subsonic but I could not find them at the time. Instead I went with a 185 Grain Lapua and it's the most accurate (at 100 yards) load I have ever made/shot.

Sub sonics are fun to shoot with a suppressor and you can get your girlfriend/wife/mother (hopefully not all the same person) into shooting your larger "scarier" guns.

Sorry for digging up a zombie thread but I'm also looking for 208gr data for subsonic 308.  My powder is trail boss.  The gun is a Savage 10 FCP 20" 1:10.  The only other bullets I have available are 168gr.  Thanks fellas.

I was pushing 175 SMKs with 10.3 gr of Trail Boss in a 24" FCP Bull Bbl. Makes me giggle every time.

I push 210s with 12.5 grains of TB, CCI 200 primers, FC 308 Win cases...  COAL ~2.87" (my AICS mag length).  Seating depth ~0.645” inside the case.  Barrel = 20" / 1:10.  MV = 1,032 fps in my boom stick - YMMV.

P.S.: DON'T compress TB.

Not that it is specifically helpful for the 208gr Amax, but see my favorite subsonic load below:

Case: Lake City 7.62x51 once fired in my rifle. Shoulder bump .002"
Bullet: 220gr Sierra Pro Hunter RN (MFG Part #2180)
Powder: Trail Boss
Charge Weight: 13.7 grains
Primer: Federal 210
COAL: 2.775" In my investigation, this is just about touching the powder without actually compressing it at all. This is about .096" jump in my chamber.
Medium Crimp (through initial load development, my SDs were lower with a crimp as opposed to without)
Rifle: Bolt action, 20" barrel, 1:10 twist

In my rifle, this produces a MV of 1,074 fps (magnetospeed) with a SD in the single digits and about 1 MOA accuracy.
