Judging by this eBay sale, the VHF version is 136-174 MHz and the UHF is 400-470 MHz.

right. i was looking for some confirmation that it would in fact transmit on that freq range.

ie: my vx-150 only transmits 140-148, but can scan a significantly larger spectrum

They do infact transmit on the entire range they are for.

I can write up an actual review if enough people are curious.
Between this thread and the other it warrants it probably.

I'll do It when I get done with my analysis of the Chicom Type 884 Man Portable Radio.

The px-888 is a newer model. It might be worth the few extra bucks...
The 888 covers 400-480MHz (UHF version). Also, it has two lines on the display, so it can display both the freq AND the name you give the freq at the same time. The 777 can only show the name OR the freq IIRC.

Edit: Also, the 888 = double receivers. The 777 only has one. And oh yeah, the 888 also has FM radio so you can listen to music and stuff on it...

I don't know what "double receivers" really means since im new when it comes to radio equipment. I read the receiver thing on another forum a while ago.
