My wife and kids just got home from a trip to visit friends.  They went from western WA to Pittsburgh.  We were talking about her trip and I was amazed how much her perspective has changed in just a few years.  We used to shop for 2-3 days at a time, and unless you can live on condiments for a week we would have been screwed.  She had no real intrest in shooting or preparing for unforseen events.  SHe always assumed things would just work out.

Well now we have five gallon buckets full of wheat berries, thousands of rounds in a jobbox,a generator, scepter water cans, firearms training and most importantly a number of different plans.

She said while sitting around with her friend at her house, she started looking around.  They live much like we did.  My wife says "I realized if the SHTF we were fucked".  The next day she drug her friend and kids to the grocery store and bought some stuff for them to put aside, and helped her cook a bunch of meals to have in the freezer.

I'm not sure why I decided to post this.  I know a lot of guys have to overcome their wifes objections, and just thought I would show it can be done.  It was a long slow process but worth it.

The big possitive from this trip is she now wants to accelerate our preps, which still feel like a long way from being complete.

same thing here. my now wife hated the fact that I owned guns and thought I was stupid for having food/water stored away and would absolutly refuse to eat any of the canned food when I'd rotate it out. one day she shocked me when she asked if we can go out shooting for me to teach her. I was like huh???.....sure! and am I glad we did. we both learned alot that day. she learned how to use the sighs and manipulate the weapon controls, load mags, ect.... but most importanly we found out that her wrist's are too weak to shoot a handgun effectivly. she played tennis all through high school and her college years. nothing a carbine didn't fix. gonna work on building her, her own(and of course she wants it to be pink )

she also came home with 5-8 bags of canned food one day and asked me to help her take them upstairs. we went up with several bags and came back down with a bag of stuff we rotated to put in the pantry so it would get eaten soon. Just makes you love them that much more.

I got mine to go pick out a hand gun and get her cfl license. She goes to the range with me (Indoor range here as the heat is brutal in the summer). I just can't convince her that you need at least 3 months of food stuff and other items in case something goes wrong. So I just do it on my own and she shakes her head every time I bring back a 25lb bag of rice or beans from Sams. At least she grew up raising animals for slaughter and has no problem gutting out game, just not interested in hunting.

As stupid as the show was, that show that NatGeo did on preppers did wonders to get my wife to pull her head out of the sand. Now she is on board with me and wants me to start buying more preps. And she wants her own handgun and AR. Never thought I'd see the day.

The name was "Doomsday Preppers"  and you can see the show by searching the internet.  I just did a google search for it and it came up with MANY links.
