Join our daily net in Rock Hill on 147.030 (-) 88.5 PL Tone at 8:30 PM. We also BS a lot on 144.900 Simplex (FM). Warning: not "politically correct". You'll need a good, tall, external antenna to hear us from Charlotte.
We also have a 10m "Hoodlums Net" net on 28.340 Mhz (USB, of course) at 10:00 PM, every Saturday. Yes, a Tech can transmit on this frequency. This Saturday is a commemorative 1000th net. Every participant gets a nice certificate.

Was on the air this weekend.  Maybe one evening this week I’ll try and get on.  Have a grower behind me and his lights are causing hell here.  That said may see if anyone can catch me on 40m.  Colorado here

This is Steve KJ4TCV out of Hixson,Tn.  I am new to Arfcom, so bare with me.  I'm usually on 146.79 .  Any and all help would be appreciated. I have been off the air for a couple of years, but now that I'm retired hope to get involved more again. I was part of the ARES group here and helped some with the Ironman and Marathon.   I'm looking at getting into digital Yaesu fusion. Had another Ham talk to someone 60 miles east of London with his Yaesu handheld, came in very clear.  Anyway, Now that I know where this thread is at, I'll be on it off and on.

Send out the following message:

Girls girls girls live nude dancers 24/7 at Fullpower's

You'll get a response if you are transmitting.

Ask me how I know.

It beats asking for a losy radio check!

On everyone's favorite antenna tuning frequency practicing CW if you are interested.

Was on the air, but the last thunderstorm that blew through snapped the support line on my 80 meter quad which went from fully erect to basically flaccid.  So, I could put up zepp or something for 80/40 but all the trees are full of leaves and my slingshot prowess makes it very tough to launch a fishing weight up high and to have it successfully come down.

Semi bummed.

New to the board here but been on as general class KI7CIL down here in South Central TN. Mostly listening on a FT-60, but I dearly want to stretch the legs of a -817ND once I find someplace to deploy enough antenna for 40m voice. (fond thoughts of a hamstick dipole, just a bit much in the apt I am in.

I'm not a fan of repeaters much, as if/when they go down, everyone who has been getting away with all that range off of a QRP will find themselves, if lucky, only listeners.

If i must be merely a listener for the time being, I'd be obliged if anyone knows any good nets on Monday or Thursday nights. And if anyone knows if 14.313 is still being the 20M answer to citizens band...God help us.

Anyone else in Mid south TN?

Anyone on using the Olivia digital mode?  If so, what bandwidth, how many tones, what center frequency?  And, from where are you transmitting your Olivia signals?

JS8call is the new alternative to Olivia narrower bandwidth, slow to turbo modes, weak signal decodes down to -28db, messaging and relay capabilities, keyboard to keyboard ragchews, integrated APRS capabilities, group messaging - what's not to like?

Well, the interface, for one, is not to like.  Not very intuitive.

But, we'll see how it morphs and evolves into a usable mode/software pairing.

Our digital net has been on Olivia for the past 8 years.  It's actually going on right now, or would be, except our net controller is absent this week.  See the thread right below this one, for details.

It's really not any more or less intuitive than FLDIGI, WSJT-X, etc. People were complaining about the interface of WSJT when it switched to WSJT-X. and then when FT8 was introduced alongside JT65 there was even more bellyaching - now FT8 is probably the most used mode around the globe and nobody seems to be saying it's not intuitive enough...just gotta have the desire to learn, adapt, and overcome.

Damn that was funny as hell when I did that to the ship. I swear the pileup was probably 50/50 between hams that knew what I was doing and laughing themselves silly and the fuddy duddys wondering WTF was going on.

When I did that I figured the operator was just going to give me a chuckle but when he said he was patching me through to the Fire Direction Control people I was ALMOST caught off guard! I didn't expect that! I had to think FAST.

I think I did it right and I know I ended it right when I said, "Cease fire, cease fire. Thanks, Mac! Ya knocked a hole in him and our Joes got it from here! Don't forget to check out the gams on that tomato in this month's Stars and Stripes!"
