This would be awesome.

I tried to put a bug in the OP's ear about the Hammer being a character from a different series, but I was told it wasn't going to be so.

I still want more from the other series too.  Lol

A prequel to the last march?

icanonlygetsoerect.img

but seriously. A story about how we got to where New Sparta is at the start of TSLM would be fantastic.

Have you read any of the Sean bastle stories?  I think they'd set the perfect back story. Maybe not getting The Hammer straight out of the story, but I think it'd set the stage.

They are different universes though.

I accidentally bought flip of the coin on Amazon the other day.  I thought it was something I hadn't read yet, but I have, somewhere(online maybe?).  I recognized it as soon as Jim's car pulled into the neighborhood, but kept on reading anyway. Lol

Your depictions of them defacing the mural at the end made me think of my time working corrections, and all the batshit insane mother fuckers who would draw pictures with their shit.

And you nailed Doc's reaction right at seeing it.... amusement and incredulity and disgust, all in one.

Great chapter. I'm curious what was going on in the tunnels now. Kind of want them to go back in there and figure out what's what

Also, you might want to check your date in your title. The Colt is good but he can't go back in time

Date fixed.

There'll be more Tunnel Rat ops before this one is over...  Given the name of one of the characters, Tunnel Rat ops is a necessity.

good chapter.

I find myself liking the chief marshall less and less. And wishing more and more that someone inside new sparta will rise up and just cap him one day.

It seems as though the story is moving more toward a civil war than a war to end what they've been fighting since their inception.

And I'm surprised the chief marshall is so resistant to a military coup.... K makes valid points.

I'm surprised he is so against it

I have no plans at all to expand upon the Hammer and give him his own complete story.

I have left some openings in the plot to expand upon.  Such as, What happened at Confluence that cause the disaster?  How did the Chief Marshal end up with the locations of Doctor Chosen's secret labs?  And what happened to Group 4?  The Group of Spartan Knights who disappeared somewhere in Asia.

It's your pond, we're just swimming around in it

Do you have any idea if these other openings will be the basis for full books, or novellas like you have done in the other series?

I'll be here to purchase whatever you make available, in either world that you've created.

Yes and No.

Below is what I posted on my other active thread:  The House.

Between now and Christmas I'm going to publish this story (complete with its ending- You'll find out if Marc ever got his NVGs out of his pack), another story I wrote for another venue, and a short story from The Spartan's Last March universe on Amazon. A three-fer deal. 42+ pages (in word) about 20,000 words. The Amazon title will be, Black Arrow, which is the title of the story from The Spartan's Last March universe.

For those who are also reading The Spartan's Last March\The Spartan's Ashes stories, Black Arrow answers the question of what happened to Group 4; the unit of Spartan Knights who disappeared off the grid out in Siberia and never answered the Chief Marshal's recall.

I've got the cover art done, ran it through Grammarly a few dozen times, just want to review the whole thing this week a few more times and then launch it.

Thanks for reading everybody and thanks for the comments.

Agreed on both counts, that is the beginning of a cool story but it was just a teaser. After Ashes is completed I would love to see this story line developed.

I liked the completion of The House too although I was hoping that there would be more to that one as well.

Space command wasn't really my thing but it was interesting how Sharkman worked the cyber misinformation stuff from current day news into the mix.

How much do you change from posting here versus the book and how many more chapters.
I loved the Spartans last march so am waiting for this one.

I love these stories but i hate it when they stop and then the next update is six months a year or never.

Anticipation is making me wait.

Typically the storyline remains pretty true between what I post and what I end up publishing.  What's published is going to get more editing for spelling and grammar too.

When I do publish this I'll probably add more on the front end, but nothing that would alter the plot or the characters in any significant way.

I know it can be long between posts.  I appreciate everybody's patience.
