If I'm not talking (phone) to SF types, I'm usually on CW. Can't really explain why, but it's so much more fun than plain ol' talking. Sure is great for our current sunspot deficiency (better propagation w/ CW than SSB) and so many nice folks down that part of the band just waiting for you to answer their CQ.
I'm no expert either -- just a medium speed op (for ragchews I max out in the high teens -- depends on how much I've been CW'ing lately as to how easily I'm copying). And there are plenty old, seasoned ops out there who've been working CW for 40 years or more and still enjoy strolling along at moderate speeds.
I found CW to be the easiest way to get max enjoyment from the hobby side of ham radio. Don't need extra gear beyond a basic transceiver. I built my key from paper clips, wood block and tin foil so no $$ there.
