Seeing a fair number of these for sale around here. Economy and all that.
If the S truly does HTF maybe sailing away to a tropical island might be nice.

I believe there was a thread about this a few years back.  As long as you've got preps prepositioned on the island and you know it'd be there and you could get intel on the state of the island prior to making the trip.  You'd hate to get to the island and realize the MZBs had taken over in the name of black beard.

It's fairly easy to cross oceans and carry a couple months worth of supplies even on reasonably small (thus sort of affordable) sailboats.  For a mid-term bugout it would be doable even if all you do is sail around while all hell breaks loose.  The biggest problem I see with this is that if you live where this is a possibility then hurricane is the most likely suspect for SHTF.  The other problem is that if SHTF bad enough in the USA to make you want to do this it seems likely things will be as bad or worse in nearby small countries.  Ocean crossings are usually made during certain seasons of the year when conditions are favorable for that particular crossing so going somewhere farther than a few hundred miles may be a problem.  There is also a set of skills needed to do this safely.  It's not something you should be considering unless you have plans to make long distance sailing a substantial part of your lifestyle.
