Some time ago, there was a post that had layouts for different size properties (1ac, half acre etc.)
Does anyone have a link.

There was a picture that showed where you could have the vegetable garden, herbs and a place to keep a cow and a poultry area etc.  It was a brief schematic birds eye view.

Thanks

John Seymour touches on this in a number of his books: great resource.
My suggestion is LIVE on your land a bit before making any decisions, and use his advice but suited to yopur particulars, and you'll figure out what should go where, and get an idea of the flow of the place.

It is a royal PAIN to move trees you've planted, buildngs, fences, gates, etc, all because you were in a hurry to get it going.
Ask me how I know.

That was the book: The Backyard Homestead.

I see if I can find the pics on line somewhere.

Be sure to keep prevailing winds, etc in mind.

Also, some of his projected yields are a little optimistic:
Depends on your local soil, precip, weather, etc

We have TERRIBLE soil, but have slowly built in up over the last couple decades.

Actually, he didn't write this book.

The Backyard Homestead by Carleen Madigan.

You can sometimes find this book at Tractor Supply.

The Seymour book I referenced is "The Guide to Self-Sufficiency".
Has layouts for 1 acre, 5 acre, etc, but similiar to above posted pics.

The Seymour book is a lot more realistic.  If you look at the scale of the tenth-acre homestead picture listed above you'll see that the house is about the size of my living room.  The house shown on the quarter-acre lot would be pretty small too.

ETA:  Yup, about 288 sf by my rough calculations.  Noticeably smaller than my living room.

I think it is silly to waste good garden space on growing a tiny amount of grain.
