I've got some 308 that I bought cheap and stacked deep years ago.  I now need to use the resource to fund other preps.  It is brass case copper jacket fmj, and looks like Seller&Bellot head stamp and box.  Marked 1983.  I'm trying to sell locally because I don't need the drama of shipping.  I've got 40 boxes.  How much per 20 round box should I look for?

50 cents a round minimum. I would start at .75 though and that would probably be closer to the current rate.

Personally i would concider that part of my preps! the 308 is an outstanding round and in time will be worth its weight in gold.  leave it stacked,....you'll not regret it.

Spend some time in the EE ammo section reading posts about 308 ammo.

Spend some time in the ammo forum and read about some of the different 308 ammo out there.

Run searches on your specific ammo and lot numbers to try and find out all you can find out.

When you place your ad make sure you mention that you do not want to ship.

If you were willing to ship a lot of folks would be willing to buy it since it sounds like nice reloadable 308 brass to collect after shooting it up.

You should easily be able to get 50 cents a round if the ammo is decent.  Depends on what you learn about the ammo.

Price it high as mentioned and see what happens.

The price of many things is going up, but ammo is at the TOP of that pack, from what I've seen.  Keep that in mind- you will likely never be able to replace it in the future for anywhere near what you can get out of it now.

.308 is readily available for $6.50 a box (.33 cents a round) from Aim Surplus.

It really isn't worth that much.  The panic is over for .308.

Thanks guys I got it sold.  To answer some points presented.  The proceeds will go to other things that will bring more balance to my portfolio.  I'd sold the Fal over a decade ago and never got around to getting an HK91. Finally I came to the realization that this ammo no longer matched my use patterns.

800 rounds is not exactly "stacked deep".  I wouldn't even call it bare minimum.

Yeah, 800 rounds sounds like a shortage, not a lot.

Russian ammo is not quality?  Runs perfect in my M1A and groups great at 100....
Whats not quality about it?

That's the opposite of my experiece.  I haven't had reliability problems, but all the Russian stuff I've tried is filthy in the weapon, seems underpowered, and groups 2x or 3x the size of what I can do with NATO-style stuff.  And these various ammos have been tried in some or all of my 6 M1As, so my experiences have been consistent with it.

I don't pay $12 for 20, that's for sure, but I also don't have much good to say about the $6.50 "bargain" ammo either.
