I'm feeling poll happy and thinking a lot about SHTF lately. I also have a poll going regarding OPSEC and an underground shelter.
If we were to have a SHTF scenario would you try your hardest to stay hidden and under the radar or would you gather family, friends, and neighbors and create your own "gang".
I personally think that it would all depend on what type of station it is but I would want to lean towards a well armed group. Sure you can survive on your own and possibly stay under the radar for a long time but it seems inevitable that sooner or later you'd come across a situation where a few people just won't cut it.  I come from South Dakota though where there aren't any vast forests to hide in. Basically every group of trees is around a farm place and not very hard to spot. On the other hand I have a hard timing thinking of a friend or family member that wouldn't bring either a lot of guns and ammo, or a useful skill, or both to the group.

Given my druthers, I'd join/form a group, though I don't think "wolf pack", given the current connotations of the term is the best choice of labels.



I also don't think I'd want anybody near me based solely on his/her ability to bring guns and ammo to the party.  The sort who only stock guns and ammo are exactly the ones we're grouping up to protect against.  



Never know when you might fail to wake up some morning due to bullet in the head syndrome.

it would all depend on the scenerio..in a true collapse I would want a strong group.

ETA:  We have more of a fire team.  About 4 solid former .mil with some support elements thrown into the mix.

Other that maybe being a troll, how do you feel about killing other's to take what you need?

Boy that right there is a real mouthful and the real truth. People in our group of a few families look at the guns and ammo only crowd as major potential breeding ground for threats to our BIL, not as potential members of the group.

I live in the city and there are seven LEO's on my block including myself.  Yea, I live in copland.

I agree 100% with this.

With my family - I'll want as many armed and rugged men in my group...or be one myself in their group as possible.

But if I were alone... grey man, quiet coyote (not wolf) all the way.

A lot of shepherds looking over our flock....protecting them from the wolves......

Beans....bullets...band aids......if you are missing one of these.....you could potentially want to try to take ours.....
