I mean pants hanging low, baseball hat on crooked, gold everywhere, and this has nothing to do with race - everyone was represented. I have been going to this gunshow for years, never seen this before.

I will have to say I've noticed the same thing lately. We had a couple of guys at the last show wearing Bandidos colors. Don't think you're the only one with "cool toys" and skills.......

I'll agreee with the toys part.....skills are a different story. I did hear one guy ask if an upper would go on his bushmaster lower. The vendor said, "sure, see these two pins here? just push them out and the entire upper comes off!!!!" I could not believe it. I stared at the guy just so I could imprint on my brain what that looked like. |

saw a homie in my local shop getting a full instruction on how to pump a Mossy 500... I was actually concerned with someone with this lack of knowledge shopping for a street sweeper.

I usually see a couple white trash meth-head wannabes––generally around the airsoft-grade optics booths. Other than that, the local shows are generally turd-free.

its not just at gun shows, try Cabelas on a Friday night. scary!!!!!!!!!!

What were the thug-types looking at/buying-did you happen to notice?
Can't say that I've ever seen that around here. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

sounds like some of the punks escaped from down here. They were probably buying some weapons so they can continue the drive by shootings..been real bad down here lately
|
|
i agree.
but not just them. it seems to be more of an entire cross-section of people. thugs, for sure, but also elderly people, college kids, white-collar type people...men and women of all types. so i think, whatever. as long as the endgame is guns becoming more ubiquitous and thus more accepted in our everyday culture, it's all good. |

We occasionally have the "thug" types at local gun shows here. Always looking for private sales on pistols...
|
|
We have a few Homies looking to buy gats. Just as many Feds doing the same thing though.
|
|
i noticed this at the last show in tampa....problem is...they are rude....pushing through, just daring you to say somethinng...which is damn funny since they are the minority in the whole building....i don't mean ghetto thug....i mean rude punks...
Usually hard pressed to find someone who isn't polite and considerate. times, they are a changing.... I met a guy yesterday at the RV show who told me .." if you don't have any patience, you are in a world of hurt..".... we were lamentiing the fact that some food server in a trailer had to prep each order of funnel cakes, while his helper ignored everyone else in line. i had to wait 10 minutes for a diet coke for the wife, and there were only two guys in front of me. |

Someone has to buy all the lorcins, tec 9s and other assorted garbage that people with their head on straight won't touch. Think of them as a trash filter.

ETA Oh wow by 8 seconds I'll second that the 2A applies to all. I've seen one ton diesel pickups blasting rap here in TX. |

I've seen a few at one of our local gun shows, but as soon as they found out you still had to do the background check, at the majority of the tables, they left.
Guess they believed all the gun show loophole crap, the media serves.

Profilen is wrong. I know you don't mean any harm, but I do want to once again clarify that race is not and was not used in my observations. I think i said this in my OP, but worth repeating. |

It is hard to make judgements about people on their looks alone, but my mother always told me that I would be judged by my friends. That means how they act as well as how they look. I have to consider that just maybe it is indicative of our society. There seems to be less respect for others along with themselves. Im talking about our "kids" here. Its cool to stand out rather than blend in. Culture. Its changing all over and not for the good i'm afraid.
Just sayin..... |

That show has started to see more of that for for a while now- usually looking at the AKs and shotguns. Still my favorite occurred about two years ago when this skinny white guy in a wheelchair was looking at books at that table that's always in the back near the bleachers just past the guy with all the knives. Dude had one of those $5 generic shoulder holsters in his lap and asked me to hand him all the copies of The Turner Diaries because he was going to give them to his friends. I handed him the copies he wanted and moved on to the next table quickly. It's very rare for me to go to a gunshow anymore.

Would it be wrong of me to seel the tec9 knock off I have to one of said homies? It doesn't cycle at all and I beleive someone may have snipped the recoil springs (it binds up to no end)... and filed down the firing pin so it won't contact any primer... thoughts? Its mainly non functioning garbage... or is that entrapment?
Anyways I stopped going to the gunshows down here... the local shows are way overpriced bot not too crowded.... The big show is way over crowded, homies are out and about the prices generally suck. I'll stick with my favorite shop and private sales anymore. it's a shame because I used to love to go to the shows out here |

Sell them a Nickle plated .380 with ivory grips so they have something to transition to when their tec goes T/U. Also sell them a flea market katana for when the lorcin stovepipes. |

I am more than likely classified as who you guys are sterotyping. No, im not a thug or wear gang colors... But i dress differently than you, wear a hat, have a lot of tattoos, and drive vehicles that probably dont make sense to most of you. I get a kick out of everyone that judges a book by its cover. I mean i do the same thing, i cant stand the whole "emo" thing myself. But, i have worked in guns for 10 years... I have my concealed carry permit and own a bunch of guns that would make most of you go from 6 oclock to 12 oclock in a matter of seconds. So there can be people that dress in baggy clothes or talk a little different that still know a little about guns and have the same right to walk around a gun show as anyone else.
And, no i do not nor have i ever owned a Bryco, Hi Point, Jimenez, Cobra, Davis, or Intratec. |

I totally agree with Fordguy on this not being about race.
We used to have a lot of gang banger types at the gun show in Warren Ohio. That was back when we had a dealer that specialized in Highpoints. They would crowd around the table pulling up their pants once in a while as de axe about de gat. We also had quite a few regular black folks milling around as well. I remember one time talking to a black guy about an XD since I have several. I often chime in on particular guns. Some of the vendors know me well enough that they welcome it. We were chatting about the pistol when I noticed a couple gang banger types walked in the door. I was instantly self conscious of the fact that I was checking out the riff raff. I looked back at the black guy and he was looking at them too and just shaking his head. He never said anything, but I don't doubt for a second that those types weighed heavily on his decision to buy a pistol. There is very little doubt that the guy I was talking knew that I do not regard him the same way I do the gang banger wannabees. I would be saddened if he ever did think that we would lump him in with the jack asses that he needed to protect himself from as we do. |

It was the whole look, feel, aura, everything. edit: one more thing: I practiced law in this community for 8 years, and I represented thugs among others. I know what a thug looks like. |

About every two months there is a gunshow in my state that is held at a location less than 30 miles from a city that regularly makes the FBI's top ten list for violent crime. Since I work for my state's Dept of Corrections I make it a point to get to this show when they open and then when the thug element starts to awaken and slither in, it is time for me to leave.
I deal with incarcerated prisoners every day. So many of them have no allegiance to anything except themselves or to their gang. They have no problems using brute force to get what they want or need. While they may not dedicate the time to learning how to use their weapons responsibly like we do, they will be a lot quicker to use them and they will not Monday morning quarterback themselves afterward. Do not dismiss them. In a SHTF situation the thug element in our society will be a very big concern. When they have raped and pillaged everything in their "hood" they are going to be going on the road you can bet on it. |
|
At south carolina gun shows its usually the girlfriend sitting down doing the back ground check and the boyfriend (thug) telling her what "she wants to buy" then handing her 20$'s. Im sure the thought is as soon as he shoots someone she reports it stolen after the crime and wotn get in trouble.

One of the regular shows here gave me a real awakening. I saw what we know to be gang tatts, the thug look, Rude attitudes, disrespect.
These guys are pulling anywhere from 3g to 10 g out of their pockets and buying ARs, AKs, Glocks. The only thing I have never seen these guys buy is ammo. Maybe a box or two, but never in any real supply. In fact Ive heard them ask if they can just buy 5 rnds. |

Most in the area are wannabees but there are increasing numbers of gang incidents in Dover, Rochester and Somersworth that I know of and I imagine in the rest of the seacoast area as well. Unfortunately its is making its way here slowly but surely. |
