Went fishing last Sunday on Lake Erie and caught a BIG walleye: 12 pounds / 32 inches long. Was going
to eat the fish, but all my buddies talked me into getting it mounted. The charter captain had a 'deal' with
a local taxidermist for a $200 mount: Wound up being $240. Is this a fair price??

Let me find out what my friend paid for hers. Her first walleye was a Fish Ohio 31 or 32" eye. Also, might want to check this site for info: http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=11

ETA: $7-8/inch is what her husband just texted back. At that price you would be right in the ballpark for your fish.

I wish we grew them that big down here, all i can ever seem to catch are 20 to 22 inchers. They sure do make good eating though.

I thought I had my first fish to get a replica made last Wednesday, a long, funny story, bleeding hand and a brand new treble hook split down the middle later and once again I am looking for my first replica

OP, I am 15 miles South of Canton and the going rate around here is damn near $10 an inch so to me that is a pretty good deal
I need a fish for my wall, I have deer, mountain lion and full size bobcat mount but no fish

I paid 10 an inch and 12 an inch a few years later for 2 BIG trout (Rainbow 28 1/2" and Brook 27"I caught.
They were skin mounts, not replicas - I will be doing a replica for the empty spot on my wall for the brown trout.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, the guy we go out with quoted me a rough price on mounting and even though I cant remember the exact figures a 32" fish would have worked out to more than $240. I caught a 28" eye that went a little over 8lbs in July of last year out of Lorain. This time of year though those eyes are getting fat, Huron should start cranking soon.

So did you get it mounted yet?

Sounds reasonable to me.

It is supposedly being worked-on; I haven't heard from the taxidermist since July: He called me asking
for a 50% deposit. I will give him a call after the new year.

Boat captain said it was $200 ––- Turns out that the taxidermist wanted $220 for the mount and a $20 'pick-up' fee. I was
a little miffed about the extra money. Hope it looks good –– I will post pic's shortly...

We were trolling. Fishing was slow first half of morning on spoons –– Switched over to
crawler harnesses and started to pull 'em in!! I don't know the exact spot: I think it was about
6 miles north & a little east of Lorain harbor.

Very nice looking mount, we went out of Lorain(Hotwaters) last month and 2 out of the first 3 fish we brought up were pushing 10lbs, My Son got one that went 9.5lbs and his buddy got the other that was closer to 10lbs, really cool as my Son had not caught one that big and it was only the 2nd eye his buddy ever caught(first one caught earlier that morning probably went 7lbs) we were pulling nightcrawler harnesses.
