Made my first contact with a nice fellow in Vancouver, BC. I was using 5 watts on 20m, that's it. Had to do a little tweaking, but I think I got it now. Took me a while to figure out how to adjust ALC in the software so the meter just barely moved. I just found the PSK map display option in HRD & that is an awesome feature!

PSK31 anyone?

20m seems to be dying now, may try 40.

I pretty much stick to 20m PSK31.

Worked Brundoggie last night

Took me a bit since I wiped out my router settings on the first attempt

ETA: that only mattered since I was monitoring here to see how we were doing.

Yes, Congrats!

I'm still stuck in limbo waiting on my sale to go through so I can get the IC-7200, but maybe I can hit you once I ever get my crap together.

OK,

Running wsjt 5.9.7 r383 from synaptic repo.

I can open wsjt, it gives me a terminal with this...

But if I select 0 as the input and output to use, it just uses 7 for both again.

My wsjt screen shows no waterfall, even if I press Monitor.

fldigi works fine and is using (HW:0,0)

I can't seem to find a file that specs which source to use, it lets me request device 0, but then uses 7.

Is there any reason you are using wsjt and not wsjt-x?

I am installing wsjt right now, but have been using wsjt-x from the repo on the site

Thats what I thought.

Try installing pavucontrol from the repo. Then set wsjt to use pulse. Keep pavucontrol open while you are operating so you can adjust your levels on the fly to control power output. You will see that while more people are going to ALSA for Ham stuff pulse is where its at.

Gluttons for punshment  . . . . . . . . .  using LINUX and ham radio

I used to run UBUNTU,  FLDIGI and CQRLOG on a TS-480

few years ago, I switched to HRD and WinXP

Now I'm running HRD and Win-7 64bit

Hate to say it, but for playing radio, windows 7 is your best bet

Yes, because I am still running 10.04 LTS since I don't like Unity.  I am actually installing 12.04 LTS in a virtualbox now just to try wsjt-x.

+1... HRD and WinXP here now until next computer, then another windows machine primarily because of the radios.

I am running pavucontrol.

Here's a cap of what happens if I switch to input device 5 (pulse)...

Glad to hear you got it going. If unity isn't your thing check out Linux Mint (I'm using LM15 xfce) 13 is LTS based of 12.04. It is debian based so no learning curve from Ubuntu.

To all the Linux haters I will put my Pentium D $20 desktop up against any windows shack box. Sure there are a few downsides but nothing that can stop you from doing something.

Besides have you ever heard a Linux user complain about a prolific driver?

shackbox has an older copy of HRD running in it. Honestly I feel HRD is bloated but I think it has nicd features. They talk about porting it over but never go much further than talk.

ALOT has changed since 6.xx. Plus you always have the option to run a VM.
