I'd like to pick up a new pocket single-AAA flashlight.

Ideally I'd like one with a clicky-tailcap for on/off, and rotating bezel for low / med / high modes.

Does something like this exist?

Thanks!

4Sevens Preon. You'd have to buy the Preon 1, then add $11 for a clicky tailcap.

Anyone use the Titanium Innovations IlluminaTi CA1 LED Flashlight with Cree XP-G R5 LED & Titanium Body 1xAAA 115 Lumens?

Any particular reason?

Capacity is weak, AA fits in a pocket fine and does so much more. There are better designs available in AA, and better quality rechargeable batteries, either Li-ion or NiMH.

+2. I dont leave home w/out it. I cant count how many times I use it. Wife unit has even become dependant on asking "You have your light in your pocket".
I'm on my 5th battery and it is still as bright as when I got it. You can also flip the retaining clip to fit on the bill of your hat. I love the low, mid, high options.  It would be nice to have a tail button but the light is so small you can manipulate the twisting in one hand w/ 2 fingers.

Not a single AAA, but this new light from Maglite looks pretty nice. Seems they finally tried to catch up with all those eating their lunch.

First review seems to know what he's talking about and likes it. USA made:

I sent the slightly older model of the illuminaTi (q5, not r5 led) to Prep as part of his xmas exchange gift last year

seemed to be well built, but dont remember much about it
regardless, titanium is not needed in a single aaa light, aluminum enough is plenty strong

I have had the maratac and the machining is very poor on all the examples I have handled. This may be acceptable for some, but loose threads translates into flickering and thread wear. ITP makes a version of this light that is equally as sloppy.

The 4 sevens preon matches all the requirements of the OP and has good quality machining as well. The levels are well spaced and the beam is flawless.

I like the Preon Revo even better, but it does not have a clicky switch. Twisty only.

Probably not as tacticool as some others but this is my edc light.

http://www.rayovac.com/Products/Lights/General%20Purpose/Mini%20Flashlight%20LED%20Keychain.aspx

I probably have half a dozen of them and they work great.  IMO they are just as bright as the old fashon 2AA mini mag light classic.
I think thats plenty for pocket carry.  If i need a brighter light I always have one in my edc bag.

I have been carrying the original one I got now for over 6 months and it has held up great.
I pulled the key chain clip off and re- clamped the circle clip thats attached to it and put some para cord on it.
The best part is they are only $3 at walmart
I will post a pic in a min when i find a camera.

ETA: pics

I've got an original Peak LED Solutions Matterhorn AAA (single LED), & an ARC-P AAA.  Hands down, the ARC-P.  Best small light I've ever
owned.  I EDC the Matterhorn on my house keyring, but the ARC-P is my bedside light, and goes with me whenever I leave the house & I think
the Surefire C2 LED might be overkill.

It lacks the tactical/clicky gizmos, but works reliably, every time.

After looking around a bit this is what I ordered.  I'll see if it lives up to the hype.  Bought an extra 2-battery body as well, in case I want to do the 2-AAA thing...

It'll be a couple of weeks before I get my hands on it, once I get home on R&R from here in sunny Kabul.  I'll let you know what I think.

I carry this everyday:

Fits great in pocket, in fact you don't even feel you're carrying anything.

You can also try this:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.32946

About the same size, but has 5 modes and will last much longer on low.

+1 for the Streamlight Microstreams. I carry the 2 x AAA and my wife carries the single AAA. For the price the quality is excellent. I've carried it daily for about a year and my first set of lithiums still throws a stronger beam than a AA maglite.

The micro stream is not my favorite light, but it is a great little light for the money. I have one on my night stand right next to me as I type this. Its a little bright for adjusted eyes, but the quality is undeniable. Nice little clicky light.

I have. It's a great light.  It also costs quite a  bit more than the Maratec and unless you want the extra flashing modes, it's not "more for the money".

Another advantage of the Maratec is you can easily reverse the pocket clip and clip it to your hat visor to use as a headlamp.

the wobbly sloppy head on the maratac might not bother you, but it does me. Check out the Quark Preon Revo if you want a twisty. The preon clicky is 10 times the light that the maratac is. It gives a better beam profile, brighter on high, lower on low, better machining, nicer finish.

It's a flashlight not a work of art.  It's job is to make light when you turn it on.  Preon Revo $41.00, Maratac AAA $21.75

I did not say there were not better lights out there, I said there was not a better light for the money.  I stand by that. The Maratec has never failed me, even my Surefires have done that, and at a significantly greater cost.  Put a lithium AAA in the Maratac put it in your BOB and forget about it until you need it and it will work.

By the way how do you clip the Preon Revo to your hat?

Try not to get upset. Maratac has problems with their heads snapping off due to the super thin side walls. They turn on easily in your pocket if you don't back it off enough. I just don't like sloppy machining. If its one flaw is not clipping on my hat, so be it. I have other lights that can do that.

I'm not upset at all.  I like the Preon.  I'm asking for a  Quark MiNi AA Titanium for Christmas.  4 Sevens make great lights.

My Maratac's head has not snapped off, and it has never turned on in my pocket.  Has a Maratac failed on you?

If you like the Preon better, that's great.  I think in a AAA, the Maratac is a better deal.

Yes. My maratac liked to flicker due to the sloppy threads. It actually would miss modes when switching because it would accidentally contact as I was trying to turn it. The performance was actually pretty damn good for the money. I had an ITP that is the company that made the maratac. Both my maratac and ITP had the same sloppy issues. Both had good beams. My head stayed on, but I paid much closer attention to not over tightening once I saw how thin it was.  I gave my stainless maratac to my niece. She loves it.
