A few years ago in Kentucky we had one hell of an ice storm. I live in the absolute middle of nowhere and it quite literally took three and a half weeks to get my power restored. Three and a half weeks with no power sucks ass and it got me thinking what if it would have been longer? Thanks to the panic buying market and me stocking up on PSA Black Friday Special lowers, my Goal Zero Solar Power kit showed up a few days ago and I've been playing with it all day :)
If anybody else is contemplating incorporating solar power into their preps, I'd take a look at these. I got the Extreme Base Camp Kit and I'm very impressed. It comes with two power packs, four panels, four LED lights, an inverter, wall charger, connecting cable, and a car/cigarette lighter adapter. I also got some rechargeable batteries and charging packs.
One light is bright enough to light up a medium sized bedroom. The panels feel like they are built extremely well. And I can now run my Aimpoints and weapon lights until I blow the batteries up.
Is anyone else using Solar power in their preps?
