You will probably need someone to "read" the radio programming on the XTS itself. Unless you know someone with the right Mot software, RIB (radio interface box) and cables/computer, you'll need to take it to a radio shop. It'll cost you $50 and up. At least a bench fee, whatever that might be.
You can try and use a programmable scanner for the x-mit freqs, but you'll never get the receive freqs with a scanner. I sometimes use a keypad programmable portable for that.
If I remember correctly, you won't need a rib for the XTS, but a rib-less cable and CPS software specific to the radio. Not cheap.
A local HAM might be able to help you, if they have the right stuff.
