Well, got my first elk this year. 1 shot from my new Savage 7mm Rem Mag at about 250yds put him right down. Just a spike, but that's the tag we had, and he was a heavy guy (about 185 pounds with guts/hide/head all taken off). Great times!

Congrats. They say (and I agree) that the spike elk hunt in Utah is one of the most difficult to be successful on.

Good job.

I killed a spike 3 years ago and it was delicious.

Congrats on yours, here is my first ever. 4x5 taken this morning at 0645. 300 win-mag broadside at 200 yards, winchester 180 hp. Hit him twice, either was fatal, just wanted to be sure.
