If you could have a custom drilling made for survival, what would your combination be?

I think that mine would be 12ga/.410 over a 30/30.

We're having an ice storm and I can't go anywhere.

10 ga x 10 ga x 45-70

Add adapters for 12 and 20 in the 10 ga tubes, and 2 .22 caliber tubes that fit the shotgun barrels.

Keep in mind that drillings need cartridges with a rim - so in the US we're talking 22, 22 mag, 22 hornet, 30-30, 45-70, and various pistol rounds.

These multi-barreled guns were an artifact of unique German/Euro hunting laws, which, thankfully, have never pertained much anywhere else. Very expensive to have 'em all shoot to same point of aim, and a lot of the examples seen in the USA are war-bring-backs in wierd, Euro calibers.

After some tweaking, both of mine are useful and reliable within their limits. Neither is as good as a comparable single shot rifle or SG would be in their respective roles. Sometimes I wonder what I was thinking when I bought them, but they are part of the family now, and besides, they have both appreciated so much that I would not want to sell them. Keep 'em around for trading wampum, should the time come.

Either one will accept caliber conversions from http://www.mcace.com/shotguninserts.htm. Such inserts, carefully thought out, could be a highly useful accessory. I urge folks to have a close look at the site linked, and to stock up while the getting is good.

Disclaimer: no commercial interest.

I tried contacting that company repeatedly for a 7.5 Swiss––>30-40 custom adapter - no response.

If it has to be 3 barrels im gonna say 12x12 x .22lr

.22lr for small game , 12 gauge slug for a deer , shot for birds.

In all honesty I wouldnt even consider carrying that monster around in the woods lol

.308,12ga, .22

Keep it simple w/ common calibers...

actually what most would want would be this.
Link Posted: 2/1/2011 2:25:54 PM EDT
20 gauge x 20 gauge over .22 hornet.
Link Posted: 2/1/2011 2:47:32 PM EDT
8ga, 50bmg, .17 hornet with a rail in the foregrip to mount a underslung 40mm all with silencers of course and a rather ungainly 5 gallon bucket of nightvision on top.

FWIW, I just don't see the need in Arkansas to lug a drillings weight around, of course I "might" want the .223/12g combo from Predator

20ga full x 20ga mod over 45-70 or 30-06
