Congratualtions!
Yeah, the ability to fall asleep in demanding conditions is one skill that you quickly surpass the real operators at once you become a dad.
In your prep's, you'll have to "lead" the diaper stores so that they don't outgrow 6 boxes of #2 huggies, or rely on cloth ones instead.
Breastfeeding will keep your kid super healthy - At least it did for us.
Don't sweat baby prep foods (once they eat baby foods) as much as you would think, they adapt well and starting around 6 months, or whenever you/your doctor decide, things like cheerios become both a fun activity and a lifesaver. By the time expiration dates are hit on the "chicken and rice" or whatever, you're little one will be running around and asking for a hunk of your steak.
We use a "jeep" brand diaper bag that worked pretty well and was OK. But get used to carrying lots of bags. ;)
We use a sherpani baby backpack, which ought to last until my daughter is in middle school as small as she is. It's a little heavier than some of the other (they use a steel stay) but the construction and fit are way above the other carriers I looked at. (It is the old kelty carrier, before it was bought from them). If I pack tight, with mom carrying 20lbs of bulky stuff on her back, I can take the little one and enough for a backpacking overnight for the three of us.
