I have about 25 pounds of rice stored in bags on my top kitchen cabinet. Just recently I noticed that half of my rice storage is contaminated with little smaller than a pin drop white bugs. The rice doesn't look like it is going bad. Do I need to get rid of my rice or is there another way to get rid of these pest?

Here's a link which might give you some information on your bugs. Anyway I would throw away all infested foods immediately.

I don't know how bad your infestation is,
but our old rice (like the bottom of the bag) may also have those small critters in them.
don't really notice them until we wash the rice.
we always wash to remove settling, dust, sinkers, bugs, etc.
the bugs have always rose to the top and drained off over the rim of the pot with the water running.
a couple of rinses seems to do it.........

we use Calrose medium-grain rice and haven't had any ill effects. we just don't tell the kids.
uuuuh, maybe the wife doesn't tell me

All rice contains vermin eggs, they will hatch in time. If you have small amounts of rice you can put it in the freezer for a week or so, and it will kill the eggs, or you can put in some diatomaceous earth(DE). Make sure you get the food grade DE. They also use DE for swimming pool filters, that is NOT what you want to get.

Freezing for 3 days minimum works. Make sure you use a regular freezer set at 0 F. Do not use the  refrigerator freezer. Take out, let the container dry out completely, then pack away.
