We used these for a brown bear sow and cub who were coming into camp.
At about 20 yards I hit the sow in the rear flank, it was enough to teach her that there were better places to get food.

We had tried cracker shells, basically a noise shell, those worked for about an hour.

ETA- These aren't the exact rounds we used, but similar enough to have the desired result.

Thank's guys. I like this piranha idea

Anyone know if CS paintball's are available to us lowly civilians?

This would be the quiet way.

We had discussed the rubber/bean bag idea, but he is worried about neighbors calling ect.

If it were me, I would go and yell at the bear to "get off my lawn you damn bear!"

You can buy rubber balls for paintball guns as well, they're a lot cheaper than the pepperballs. Or you could try freezing some paintballs if you've already got them.

Noisy dogs.

My wife's Chihuahua chased a bear off our back porch a few weeks ago.

Electric fence and/or rubber buckshot.

While I usually never recommend this, but non-lethal was specified, Bear Spray.

A BB gun and yelling works at my place. When bears sneak on your turf they can be usually rather easily be convinced to scoot.

Ya I was in the shoot the thing category myself. Apparently he had already talked to DOW, so shooting it would have possibly had very negative results.

If you already have a paintball gun just order these. https://www.amazon.com/Reballs-Reusable-Caliber-Paintball-100rounds/dp/B0050HYH9I?tag=vglnk-c102-20

If my boys still worked at sudden combat I'd have them bring you a handful.

There are some very good electric fence/bear videos on YOU TUBE. Highly effective.
