When you get that much gear and old vintage stuff it is worth looking into getting set up as a museum.  We have a guy locally that collects vintage trucks, military, industrial, some equipment.  Wrote it up as a museum, gets, grants, build several large nice metal buildings to house them as a write off.  Public access,....not so much, he hosts an annual museum dinner on site.  Huge tax shelter dodge I am told.

I was just gifted a UV-390 and a MMDVM Pi-sTAR?..

Now what?

My buddy said it just sat at his place, and he lost interest.

I like HF, and to me this is cheating, but...

That's all you need, just have to program your radio with the talk groups and set your hotspot to land on TGIF.

Nice to report  that TGIF Parrot TG 9990 is working so you can test to see if TGIF is hearing you for a quick radio test and to see that you're connected to TGIF. The audio that comes back will be choppy for whatever reason..I've used it before and after full quieting QSOs so that isn't necessarily representative of your audio on a regular talkgroup.

The links in this OP should get  you in the ballpark.

I added a 2nd hotspot last night just to keep at home and a lot of the settings in the expert configuration aren't exactly intuitive.

Not that I'm aware of, unless you have a hotspot. Then you can cross-mode from a Fusion radio into the Talk Group.

Can you elaborate on the cross-mode part? What exactly does that mean?

The simple answer is it will allow a different digital modulation (C4FM on a Fusion radio) to talk to a TDMA (DMR) talkgroup, and vice-verssa.

Check out the links in the OP on getting the pi-star based hotspot set up to cross mode..getting into the TG 556 with a Fusion radio is pretty popular as you just use a simplex frequency in digital mode, with no need to build a codeplug on a DMR radio.

Yeah, that is what my default was. The little thing on the bttom has a number that is counting up and down....... I am guessing how many people are logged in? However I hear nothing on IOS.

Under settings what is the ESSID?

That's a good idea to check this thread during the net to assist somebody trying to check in...

S=Time Slot - use 2

CC= Color Code - use 1

Make sure you have TGIF's password in the settings,

Either a 10-character key when you register on TGIF,

Or passw0rd
....

The key prevents someone else from using your DMR Id to transmit on TGIF

I suggest the ESSID be a number other than "none", if you plan to use a hotspot to login occasionally, which you would then assign a different ESSID.

I had to plug headphones into my Iphone in order to hear anything, for some reason the App is not putting sound through my phone speaker.

Not  unless there is a local repeater that supports dynamic talkgroups on TGIF. They are out there. More likely, you'll need a hotspot to get in.

Check out the links in the OP.
