Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - 1st time sweet potato grower. Any tips?

Ace hardware sent me a $10 coupon so I blew it on Heatmaster tomato seedlings, a six-pack of Bonnie Dragon Cayenne starts and a nine-pack of "Beauregard" sweet potato slips.

Never done the sweet tater ting. They appear to be stupid-easy to grow.

Hot weather? We'll have it.

Sandy, loamy soil? Check.

Lots of full sun? Pretty much.

Anything else?

I stuck mine in the ground of my raised bed. Wife says they needed to be suspended or to have more depth? IDK. Consider this a tag.

Wish our ace had sweet tater slips. I ordered off burpee. Planting mine in big tubs. I'm tagging this too

I stuck all mine in a 12" deep bed and did nothing but water and weed till harvest time. Was rewarded with a metric shit ton of sweet taters, most of which were the size of an average store bought tater or bigger. Some were much bigger. They were all better tasting, just like anything else from your own garden.
